I think he has a chance because of his position flex. He has blocked out of the backfield and can line up out wide as a WR. He could be the FB, 4th TE, and redzone WR all in one roster spot. That allows you to keep an extra player somewhere, maybe Noah Brown.

brown probably blocked better than escobar last year

Hanna is a question mark but I fully expect Swaim to make the 53.

Good reps for Rico and Jarwin though

Well I was thinking we would take him instead of Switz, but I figured we would take a receiver there either way.

Looks like we are all in on Rico.

That's my impression, too. Rico is said to be very likely to be put on the 53-man active roster, according to Garrett. With a full return to health by Swaim, we'll have 2 potential starters in him and Witten and I'm assuming a situational TE/backup in Rico Gathers. Hanna's situation is evidently in serious doubt due to that bone-on-bone situation with his knee. Also, as CCBoy noted, they can situationally use a 6th OL (guard or tackle) to block on the outside as well. Perhaps one of the "other" available newby candidates might be included at some point as well. Jarwin, anyone?

It's five TE currently on the roster with all five scheduled to be in camp. How many do you want?

3 maybe 4. Depends on numbers at OL and possibly WR. I'm going to guess they go light(3) at TE and carry an extra OL given all of the moving parts there.

Really hoping Hanna makes a full recovery. I'm a big fan of his, and think he can be very productive if utilized.

Seriously? Other than some blocking, what flashes has Hanna showed in 5 years on the team. Escobar was more productive

I figure we will carry 3 TEs, not reason to force it when we already need to think about going long at WR, DL, and DB.

How the heck does Hanna have the combine numbers he has? Their insane. He's better in every single category than OJ Howard, which is ridiculous.

James Hanna
40 time - 4.49
bench - 24 reps
vertical - 36 inch
broad - 122 inch
3 cone - 6.76
20 yard - 4.11
60 yard - 11.43

OJ Howard
40 time - 4.51
bench - 22 reps
vertical - 30 inch
broad - 121 inch
3 cone - 6.85
20 yard - 4.16
60 yard - 11.46

And how many are healthy?

And are you going to pretend that Hannas injury isnt career threatening?

Where did you hear or read that his injury is career threatening? Pretend???? I'm sorry but I thought the coach said that he expects both Hanna and Swain back by training camp. But you would know more.

Also must teams have 5 TE's on their roster as of today. So again my original question was how are we thin at TE?
