Sweep the division and we win the East

My fear is that Garrett will go pass-happy at the worst possible time of the season - in December.

...........That the running game that worked so well for Dallas in the first half of the season will suddenly be abandoned in favor of Romo throwing 40 pass attempts per game in December in the freezing wind and cold.

Garrett doesn't call the plays anymore.

11-5 will surely get in and now 10-6 has a good chance.

Teams pretty much in already:

Arizona
Just one team from lousy NFC South
Either Detroit or Green Bay
Either Dallas or Philthy

So the two wildcards spots are being fought over by four teams - whoever loses the NFC East and North and the Niners/Seahawks. The Niners and Seahawks have 4 losses each already and will be beating each other up and also have other tough games.

If our Boys go at least 4-2 we are in, either as division winner or wildcard. 3-3 might even make it.

Of course I'd rather the division and I believe we have a good shot at that, but after the last few years I don't care how we get in or who we play!

I tend to think right now that GB and Det will make it 1 division and 1 wildcard and I think Dallas and Philly will make it 1 Division 1 wildcard. As you said SF, Seattle both have worse records and some tough games including games vs each other that will make it hard for them to win the WC. Arz should win the division

I think Green Bay will win their division, and the Lions are due for a at least 2 to 3 more losses. It looks as though Arizona will win their division, Seattle will probably miss the playoffs and the Niners have a shot at a wildcard, but they've got to play a desperate Seattle team twice and Arizona again. The Cowboys will literally have to have a meltdown in order to miss the playoffs. There is no way they shouldn't get in.

Any team that sweeps their division wins their division. smh

2010 Raiders went 6-0 in the AFC West but finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

And I didn't say go 6-0 in the NFC East. We already lost one. I said sweep the remaining division games and it would be mathematically impossible to miss the playoffs.

That would make us 5-1. We went 5-1 in the NFC East last year and missed the playoffs.

Agreed. Reading the thread title I could only think, "Yeah, that's how it works".

But then you'd know we've already lost a division game. It's not hard to realize I mean "from here on out." And my last post explains how 5-1 in the NFC East usually isn't a given that you'll win the division.

Yeah I think you have to take this one week at a time. What if the Eagirls go on a 2 or 3 game losing streak? Than what?

Our best chance at the playoffs is winning the NFC East. We'd lose the tie-breaker to Arizona and San Francisco, and odds are Detroit and Seattle will get some more wins.

I'd rather just win the East and not have to hope for other teams to win or lose in order to get a wild card.

As it stands, we'd win the East if we went 4-0 in our division games in these last 6 games. We're tied with Philly at 7-3. If we went 4-0 in the division (even if we lost to Chicago and Indy, and Philly won their other 4 games) we'd still win the East (we'd both be 11-5 but we'd be 2-0 against Philly).

I don't see us getting better than the 3 seed regardless of what we did. Arizona is too far ahead of everyone and Green Bay looks unstoppable. Sweeping the division games would assure us the 3 seed. And there's no reason we shouldn't be able to do it. NY looks horrible, no way we should get swept by Washington, and we should be ashamed of ourselves if we let Sanchez beat us.

Let's sweep the East and be done with it. We're not finishing ahead of Arizona and Green Bay anyway.
I would say that if they sweep the Eagles, then there is a high high probability that they win the division.

Hopefully they've spent some time during the bye week studying the Eagles.

Not always. I think the Cowboys might have swept the NFCE one time and didn't win the division. I know it has happened to some other teams (maybe Raiders).

I was sure this post was going to be bumped from a few weeks ago. Nope, posted yesterday.

Sweep the eagles and win the nfce. I believe this is the only way we make the playoffs.

Not necessarily. Dallas could, in theory, go 6-0 against the NFC East but 0-10 against everyone else, and miss the playoffs at 6-10.

I apologize. I was thinking of the days when their were 5 teams per division. My bad.

Oh, I see.

But even then, Dallas could go 8-0 against the NFC East, 0-8 against everyone else, and finish 8-8 with no playoffs.
