Haha at all the people saying Switzer is too small to play running back.........he was a running back.

Sproles, Woodhead etc. say hello

They all have 15-20 lbs on Switzer, which is a huge difference.

I think Switzer is fine for running swing plays from the backfield but why run him through the tackles when you have someone like Zeke?

I'd like to see Switzer and Beasley in a staggered slot setup. Either can motion to the backfield or run routes. Have Zeke in the backfield, Witten run his option route, Dez on the slant or go. That would put huge pressure on the defense.

Having watched every snap Switzer played at UNC, here is one thing that nobody is mentioning. Switzer is world class in the screen game.Tunnel screen, smoke screen, bubble screen. Whatever. UNC took advantage of this alot to get the ball in his hands and in the open field where he is electric.

The question wasn't why you would run Switzer when you have Zeke. People said he isn't a running back and was too small and that's false

Actually that is the question. I am specifically asking you, why run Switzer when Zeke is available?

Switzer last played RB in high school? That does not mean he could do it in the NFL.

And he is 15-20 lbs lighter than everyone else that mentioned in this thread.

Put the human pinball in wherever you can.

Just not on specialty downs where everyone and their mother knows what's coming.

We aren't handing the ball off to Switz, unless its a jet sweep. This dude will run underneath stuff and catch some screens. And if you start cheating up on him he will go by you for the bomb.

I am literally salivating on that trips look with Beas, Switz and Dez. A guy who can highpoint better than anyone not named Julio and 2 pinballs who are always open.

Well since we have Zeke why have anybody else run the ball.

Dance around all you want but the question isn't about Zeke being on the roster

2 Great screens at the 4:19 and as the credits start rolling against clemson. plus the screen is an extension of the run game ball control physical offense.

He took over Clemson. Loved his clutch play after clutch play against Florida State as well. Huge first down catches. He makes plays period, against anybody

You are not answering the question. I am not dancing around my own question. How is that even possible?

It should be obvious from my posts, I do not think they will be handing the ball off to him to run between the tackles. My question is specifically to @Irvin88_4life, who for some reason thinks they will or is a great idea because Switzer used to be a RB.

Who else loves this idea?

- Better hands
- Better open field moves
- More reliable health as of now
- More of a threat if he slides to WR then when Dunbar did

Now speed I doubt is as good as Dunbars, but more times that not Dunbar was going 0 mph in the trainers room so his speed never mattered much.

I would like us to have sets where Zeke and Switz lineup at rb one on each side. This will force the D to go light and bring in a extra db because a lb can't run with Switz. Now we can run on light boxes too.

This is probably going to be the best Cowboys offense I've witnessed in 20 years as a fan. I FULLY expect us to average 35pts a game if we stay healthy.

I think Switzer will be utilized in different roles. I could see him as a return man, lining up in the back field and as a slot WR.

1st things 1st he has to show it at this level. I'm excited to see what he can do but this is not NC and the college ranks this is the NFL. People are putting the cart before the horse a little bit here.

It's clear you have totally missed what I said so let me help you.

Someone said Switzer is too small to line up at RB which I said is false. He could have a couple run plays throughout the season, not saying he is the backup or spelling Zeke. Reasons being

1. He has played the position so not out of the realm to line up in the backfield

2. He is 5'8 181 pounds coming out of college......
Sproles is 5'6 190 pounds
Barry Sanders 5'8 200 pounds.......shall I continue?

You said he is smaller by 15-20 pounds, all these guys have been in NFL strength training for years and to think Switzer will not add a few pounds is silly.

Again think whatever you want to but bet right now Switzer lines up in the backfield this season and takes a handoff

9 carries for 31 yards is Dunbars stats. I could see Switz getting the ball handed to him 9 times on sweeps or reverses this year assuming Lucky is cut or traded. But I would like to think he will have way more than 16 catches for 122 yards. I'm thinking more in the 25 catches for 300+ yards. Switz will likely only get 10-15 snaps per game max.

Too much window dressing. Just let him play slot WR and hopefully he succeeds there. Maybe they give him an occasional jet sweep, but that's all.
I think the team is grooming him to replace Beasley down the road and I like Beasley. But Beasley may want a bigger contract after gaining some exposure as the premier slot WR in the game, etc. Dunbar had such a small role, I hope Switzer gets more snaps (in general) tbh but know he is just a rook. For this to happen, it would require Witten to leave the field which the team seems set on not doing unf.

Oh no we are good

.......shall I continue?

No no we are good.

So here is another great idea to add to yours.

Cole Beasley used to play QB prior to college just like Switzer used to play RB prior to NC. So I'm now thinking it would be a great idea for Cole to line up behind center to run the read option! Switzer in the backfield?! Oh yeah this will be great. Maybe there are other players on the roster that used to play different positions. The possibilities are endless!!

It's more of Switzer taking Lucky's role. All of those snaps will go to Switzer.

He'll get a few snaps that Dunbar played but most of those will go to Zeke or McFadden now. Dunbar was a very good blocker as a RB. He was a very good receiver also. They just never got him really intrenched in the offense because he kept getting injured. Dunbar was the backup to Beasley and would have been the slot WR if Beasley got injured. Dunbar was above Lucky on the depth chart in terms of backups for Beasley.

Dude I get it. You love Switzer. I hope he balls out for the team too but I do not want him to take carries away from Zeke or the other RBs. The coaches appear to really like him are actively looking for ways to get him the ball. IMO he will have plenty of opportunities playing WR and returning kicks.
