What The Experts Say:

“Instinctive, athletic running back who has the foot quickness to create for himself when lanes constrict or blocks are missed. Yeldon lacks the ball security, top-end speed and desired tackle breaking to be a full-time starter. He’s a versatile, rotational back with the ability to step in and step up.” – NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.

“Anyone who watches Yeldon for a few minutes can tell he is immensely talented. But what is his NFL role? Can he be a feature NFL back? Can he consistently live between the hashmarks? These are the questions that will bounce around NFL war rooms leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft. If he can cure his fumbling problems Yeldon could prove a steal in the second or third rounds.” – CBS Sports’ Dane Brugler.

I never seem to hear the analysts knocking Gordon for fumbles but he is worse than Yeldon.

Abdullah should be a udfa based on his fumble problems.

35.4 -- Ameer Abdullah, Nebraska (8 5/8)
52.2 -- Kenny Hilliard, LSU (9 1/4)
54.4 -- Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin (9 3/4)
62.2 -- T.J. Yeldon, Alabama (9)
62.6 -- Jay Ajayi, Boise State (10)
63.2 -- Matt Jones, Florida (8 5/8)
72.3 -- Tevin Coleman, Indiana (8 5/8)
74.5 -- David Cobb, Minnesota (9 3/8)
77.5 -- David Johnson, Northern Iowa (9 5/8)
80.0 -- Javorius Allen, USC (9 3/8)
85.0 -- Duke Johnson, Miami (Fla.) (9 1/4)
87.3 -- Mike Davis, South Carolina (9 3/8)
91.5 -- Josh Robinson, Mississippi State (10 1/8)
92.7 -- Karlos Williams, Florida State (9 3/4)

Question that I need to investigate: How does CFB fumble rates correlate to the NFL?

I think Yeldon has been underrated in this year's crop. I do think he could translate to a fulltime back (especially in our offense and with this o-line)- plenty of tread left on those tires, too. Think he's the right pick at our 2nd round position (if Gordon is gone at 27), though I'm afraid Dallas may be foolishly man-fatuated with Ajayi or Coleman. Yeldon has excellent vision and body control. Good size and quick change of direction. A lot of rbs in this crop need work on securing the ball. I think Yeldon has 'it' and is going to make a fine rb in the nfl.

I watch him and I just don't see more than a rotational guy at best. I wouldn't touch him before the 4th-5th rd.

I don't like the player.

There are many backs I would rather see the Cowboys draft.

Yeldon has size to be an every down back, luv his north and south, running down hill, between the tackles style that should translate well to the Pro level. The best RBs never takes the big hit, seems to slide off tackles. Great vision.

Could end up being the best RB in the entire Draft.

I agree. My next favorite after Gurley, although I am warming up to Gordon.
