I don't unsterstand why we don't put our #1 db on there #1 receiver? I understand why we didn't do it when Henry was in, but Glenn on Plax(won't be good) or even worse Reeves on Plax= diaster.Do you guys think we will finally see T-New lockup with the other teams best?

I agree that this should be done.

Toomer is a joke and entirely overrated. He hasn't caught a pass in like 6 years. Burress is their only decent WR so we should put T-New on him, IMO.

Newman did not do so well against Burress in the Steeler game last season, but Glenn on him is more of a size mismatch than anything else.

Overall, we are wasting our breath since Coach Parcells has been clear that he does not "match up" the corners like this. More often than not, he goes with the basics, which means more Glenn on Burress.

Dude .. he's caught six passes and scored in each of the last three games. Don't underestimate him.

Toomer stats:

I didn't realize he had big games recently.
Outside of those though, he's garbage.
He usually has like 2 catches a game.
Didn't he go the entire season last year w/o a TD?

In any case, he's there so I'd put Glenn on him. Burress is the real threat. I'd like to see Newman on him.

Lock up Newman on Toomer and then double Plaxico.

I like that idea. I dont care who you are it is hard to cover a receiver like Plaxico because of his size. You can have great postion and coverage but when eli throws a duck out there plaxico just goes higher than one guy. But if we have 2 on him...

Well, Ok, so I guess we should let Reeves play against Burress then? Come on, this is not 2004 and Newman isn't playing like last year. That much is evident.

Yeah, you are right about BP's feeling about matching up. But if he did, I have no doubt this year, Newman will pretty much shut out Burress. Newman is playing Deonesque this year. I have not seen a CB play this well in NFL this year. Including the way overrated Chump Bailey.

I agree, Tnew should shadow him, he's got the hops to challenge the jumpballs and speed to hang. I really dont wanna see Glenn beat deep because the wrong man was on Burress.

The last 3 years........

2003-04 NY Giants 63 1057 16.8 5
2004-05 NY Giants 51 747 14.6 0
2005-06 NY Giants 42 468 11.1 5

That is besides the point. We can speculate about what a better advantage it would be to have Newman on Burress (which it certainly makes sense), but it probably won't happen simply due to our philosophy about moving our cornerbacks around.

I agree that Newman should be on Burress. However, we simply cannot underestimate Toomer. He's not a top level receiver, but he can burn us if taken lightly.

That whole philosophy about not moving our corners around is complete BS in my book. We have lost to many games because we will not match up are best againt theirs.Thats just plain dumb *** coaching!

you can't put newman on plax all day because he plays the slot. who ya gonna put on the slot? we don't have anyone near as good to cover the slot and thats the hardest position to cover.we will keep our same defense that we've played all year and that held the bronco's in check without henry.

It seems easy to me put T-New on Plax and put Glenn and Reeves at the other two positions. I mean seriously.... which receiver really scares you, ONLY Plax NOT Toomer or whoever else they have. With Shockey its gonna be a mismatch just because of his talent so you put a lb on him and shadow him with a safety.
