Did anyone hear Deion's comments on TO and the Jax game on NFL GameDay (NFL Network). He said (and intimated he had been told) that at the beginning of the game the Jax defenders were so antsy about TO that they were neglecting other assignments to compensate, and this is why it was easy to score on them. I assume he meant rolling coverages to Owens. Then they regrouped and decided not to over-cover him, choosing the more balanced coverage route. Except for the td, everything TO got was 'underneath'.
Nothing new there - every team has to decide what its best strategy is re TO, and his chief strength is the game planning efforts dcs have to make on his behalf.
But Deion maintained that Jax chose wisely not to ignore other weapons. Perhaps realizing Owens is not in 100 % game shape yet, they chose the option, and perhaps with an understanding of Bledsoe's weaknesses, they decided correctly. Owens was not a force on the field yesterday the way we are all used to seeing him be, and it wasn't all because of Bledsoe.
But he will be. Maybe by as early as next week.
