regardless he is showing more than enough speed to get the job done and out run the secondary. I can't remember him being caught from behind

yes i agree i always felt he was faster than the 40 time based on what i see when he separates.. But you right he doesn't get caught

I don't get it, either. He's pretty much the perfect complementary WR to Dez. Good team guy, makes clutch plays, makes room for guys like Beasley and the TEs to get their receptions, too, and then he just scores touchdowns. What's not to like?

That's what makes all the criticism he receives puzzling because he's a "complimentary" WR to one of the most dynamic WR's in the game. Regardless who the Cowboys have at the #2 WR spot they're not going to get near the looks Dez gets. No one complained back in the day with Irvin far out producing Harper in both yards and catches because the Cowboys were winning championships and everyone could see that Harper filled a valuable role and made some big plays. He complimented Irvin well.

TWill is clutch and can make some incredible catches as we saw vs Seattle last year. He made one the other night that was out of bounds but it was a terrific catch. With all the focus on Dez it opens up opportunities for TWill. He has a nose for the endzone scoring 8 TD's on only 37 receptions last season. Although he only caught 4 passes in the playoffs 3 went for TD's.

He's a more complete WR than Harper - better route runner, much better blocker. Harper was a far superior athlete.

I agree he is also as mentioned this is his 3rd season in the NFL and I expect to see more development in him this season. I like the guy and think some come down on him for no good reasons. Guy has made some big catches and came on big in playoffs.

Don't understand why so many have been down on Twill. We've seen a number of threads over the months critical of him with many wanting him replaced. I've defended him because he fills a role and is a terrific run after the catch receiver. He's been clutch as we saw during the Seattle game and during the playoffs last season. He does disappear for stretches but he shows up for the big games. He doesn't catch a lot of balls but when he does it's usually big plays that result in TD's. He's the Cowboys current day Alvin Harper.

Too many Cowboys fans are quick to get rid of a player if he's young and not showing enough early in his career or if he's struggling but has potential or shown himself to be a good player.

I'm not expert on this matter so my opinion probably means squat, but I usually don't give up on players unless:

1. They're past their prime, and it's really time to move on (Deion Sanders, Troy Aikman. I said it way back when that we held on to both of them too long, even though it was sort of sacrilegious to say about Aikman), especially for salary-cap reasons.

2. They're just too disruptive (whether off the field or in the locker room) to stay on the team (T.O.).

But generally, I'm patient with younger players as their youth implies they need a chance for growth. I'm glad the Cowboys are patient with younger players also. :)

Glad to see to T Williams hard work this off season is paying off. I think he will put a big season for Cowboys this year

The problem is, he would do something like this in a game last year, the D would figure out "Hey we busted coverage right there focusing on Dez, now let's semi watch him"......

Then he would disappear. The touchdown stats make him look good though in everyone's eyes.

This makes no sense. If they are going to double Dez, then how are they going to pay more attention to TW? They are going to double both and also put 8 in the box to stop the run. So, they'll play with 13 players against us. Maybe, if the refs dont notice.

Semi watch.....

Did you read that? or ignore it?

You do know what busted coverage is right?

They let him roam free, he scores. Now they actually put a man on him, and he's taken out the game, or that 1 man fixes his technique and you don't hear from Williams again.

Semi watch?? Yeah, I read that. LOL - you're post reads like (not sure if srys)

You make it sound like they dont even put a CB on him. That is ridiculous. Yeah, lets double Dez and not put a person on TWill. Yes, that happened exactly zero times ever.

So every Twill reception is busted coverage? Must be why he only catches touchdowns. Twill sucks.

Thanks KJJ, great stats. Including the season and playoffs over 25% of his receptions goes for TDs...amazing.

Not to sound crazy here, but he reminds me of Jerry Rice more than anyone else. I'm not saying he is as good as Rice, but looks like the same style to me. They both had that uncanny ability to take a short pass and bring it to the house, while not looking like they are running that fast, but still no one catches them.

He is a perfect compliment to Dez, because they have different styles.

I can't think of 1 guy that T. Will reminds me of to be honest.

I guess he is like a poor mans Randy Moss but that would just be Alvin Harper right?

I think he's already better than Harper ever was.

I think he reminds me of Torry Holt with the way he runs crossing routes and then heads upfield.

He disappeared for a stretch last year, but I'm fairly certain he was dealing with an injured hand at the time.

Exactly, it was due to an injury even Garrett mentioned it.

Need to remember last year TWill had a broken finger, and that effected his production somewhat. Romo did not get the ball to him for a stretch of 2 to 4 games there, or not as much. Until he returned later to start catching TD's again.
This is where Beasley started to emerge too. So I can see his [Twill] production and TD's going up. However, because of the emergence of Beasley, those receptions and TD's can be spread out between both.
It can also open up opportunities for Devin Street. Not a lot, but more chances than last year.

IF T-Will can increase his production even slightly, this O will be very good if we can stay committed to the run as well. If we can run, who would you cover in passing situations, Witten, Dez, Beasley, Williams. That's just too many to cover with Williams and Beasley running those crossing routes.
