Take a breath

Trust me, I get being sick of seeing the kind of game we did. If this continues for the next several games I will be right there complaining myself.
Nothing wrong with complaining, that's a fan's right. But that's been run into the ground this week because expectations weren't met.

Being a fan and objectivity are almost mutually exclusive. I don't like those that are overly optimistic or the rose tinted ones getting hammered for being over the top fans. What's wrong with being a homer, that's the magic of being a fan for some.

What is the usual here is bewildering. It isn't those rose tinted wearing fans turning on the team, it is some of the ones that didn't buy in from the get go and they should at least be happy they were right in the first game.

That's how I used to justify being a pessimist, it's win-win. Either I am right or pleasantly surprised. But some can't be happy with that.

I do think this is a bad matchup Sunday and the Cowboys will lose and maybe give up 35+, this will really be a party hat then.

I think the fans deserve a good product on the field. The reason we haven't had that for most of the last 25 years is because of fans like you.
It's no different than any other good or service sold to consumers - there are choices, and if a consumer (fan) doesn't like his choice of teams he can find company (team) to give his business too. In short, the company doesn't owe it to the consumer to put out a certain level of product, the consumer just has to decide if what the company is doing is enough to keep their business.

I'm really curious to hear how CouchCoach (and others like him) have kept the team from winning enough over the years. After all, it's not his money or his coaching or his decision making or his playing that determines what the team does.

Because most of our fans don't expect anything from this team and just blindly spend money. But he's made it clear that he doesn't spend any of his money so I stand corrected.

Everyone needs to stop spending money on this dumpster fire. It's insane.

I'm going to be honest, I hope we get blown out by 35. I hope we lose the rest of our games. And then all of the games next year too.

We get laughed at by everyone else for being fans anyway.

Disappointing game Sunday, no doubt …

And so far on this site we have had calls to bench Dak, fire Kellen Moore and trade Jaylon Smith & D-Law (while there is still a chance!).

And there have been threads started expressing disappointment that Lamb and Zeke didn't do more (even though both had good games - especially Zeke), and some have indicated they have given up on McCarthy and/or the team.

Again, disappointing game, and of course we would like to have seen more changes in the offense, and a more stingy defense, and more from a few players, but let's not get hysterical. It's still just one game, and one that came after a coaching change, no OTAs and a very short training camp with no preseason games to help implement changes.

Maybe the team will suck this year, or maybe pull together and get into the playoffs, or maybe even do well in the playoffs. What's certain though is time will be what tells, not one game.
We probably should have beat the Rams. I think we have a better roster.

Having said that, I expect the Cowboys to tighten things up and play better in week 2.

The coaches will do a better job next week because they have more info available to digest now. But the players didn’t play well, either and some of that is not coaching.

MM didn’t tell Dak to throw the ball at Amari’s feet, or behind him. Dak has got to get the ball where it is supposed to be, when it is supposed to be there.

The defense also has to tackle and stop the run. Lots to fix, but it can be fixed.

First, its nonsense to say fans don't expect much. The existence of site like this prove that. But second, even if a fan spends money (I assume you are talking about tickets and jerseys etc), are you really expecting people to quit being fans?

By the way, do you watch the games? If so, you are contributing to the Cowboy's revenue by being a reason TV networks are willing to pay big money, and why advertisers are willing to spend on Cowboy games

I agree with all of this except I didn't see a problem with throws off target. Not saying there weren't a few, but it didn't at all seem an unusual or excessive amount for an NFL QB, even the top ones. Ive seen games where Dak threw a few too many off target, and I just didn't feel this was one of them.

Now that should have happened some time back. It wasn't the Aints fans with their bags over their heads or the Lions fans when Millen was GM, it was all of those empty seats around them.

I am a Razorback, yes I know, I deserve your sympathy but the only way they affect change is not show up. All of those empty seats when the camera pans the stadium sends the message.

Swenson, I don't know how bad it would have to get to stop Cowboys fans from making this franchise the darling of all professional sports. Hell, we've got a poster here, Diehardblues, that's been trying to lead a boycott of Booger for years to no avail.

I had to have season tickets in the 80's to understand some of the Cowboys fans. Going to a game was an entertainment event, it wasn't a football game. That was not a good time in our history but I cannot tell you how many times I heard "good game" after the game was over. No, it wasn't a good game, it was an awful game and they looked bad trying to play it. There are a lot of Cowboys fans that financially support the franchise and demand nothing for their money except a pleasant outing.

Fans get what they're willing to accept. All Booger knows in that 25 year span is that his team increased in profit and value at the highest level of all pro sports as well as media coverage. He sees that as job well done.

That's an odd stance for a fan but I don't care if I get laughed at for being a fan, my team is my team. If I can admit I am a Razorback, I've pretty much gone to the depths anyway. And they don't laugh at me, they give me sympathy. A win to us is coming within 21 of a SEC West opponent. We trying to lead the FBS in moral victories.

I just want things to change and at this rate they aren't.

So what do you think happens if fans stop spending money on this team? Does Jerry see the error of his ways? Does he suddenly know what coach can come in and make them winners? Does he sell the team to someone who knows more about football than he does?

I don't think he'll sell the team but it's obvious the only thing he cares about is making money. If you remove that then he'll have to get out of the way.

He also understands that winning will bring in more money, so don't think for a second he doesn't care about winning. There's also the aspect of his wanting to prove he's a football guy, so again, he wants to win. He brought in a new HC and got rid of his adopted son, all because he wants to win.

If McCarthy ends up being a garbage HC, and JJ refuses to replace him for 10 years, then I'll see things the way you do.....Okay, make it 2 years of MM clearly not being a good coach.

Teams that had brand new staffs had no choice but to install new systems on each side of the ball...

Yet we couldnt make a few tweaks to the offense because of limited mini camps.

Yeah ok.

I'm disappointed at the realization that MM's Febreze is going to take more than a week to drown out the Jerry/Garrett stench.

And we may just find out in a couple of years it doesnt work at all.

I bought the hype yet again and feel foolish.

Blowing out Atlanta at home isn't going to do much toward making me feel that this isnt still a Garrett team.

Jerry had to keep his puppet in the making in Moore, and MM "did what he had to do" to get the job.

Jerry would still tell you he is the best man for the job since everything has to get run past him anyway.

That logic is beyond stupid. Results match.

I didn't find that shocking at all, at least not as a receiver. He is clearly faster and more agile than Witten, and he has had a strong catch %. If Witten were still in his prime it would be different.
That's why it's shocking. Quickness and footwork get you open, not speed and agility.
