the former oregon tight end has more red flags than the chinese navy, i know... but he's a beast, and someone is going to take a flyer on him. would you draft him in the 5th or 6th round? if he goes undrafted, i'm sure there will be lots of teams eager to sign him.

Watched a little YouTube clip of him, saw him taking handoffs out of the spread, he looked athletic and looked goodl after the catch. I don't know the full details of his off field stuff but I'd rather take a flyer in this guy in the 5th-7th then picking the Mcsurdys of the world. If he doesn't pan out, so what most guys drafted there don't make the team. I'm down.

I'm never opposed to drafting talent in the late rounds. The late round pick generally know that they're on a short lease. I would avoid early round pick with character issues not only due to the investment, but because they know they can get by with a lot because the team will go to great lengths not to cut them. Early round pick also have a lot more influence in the locker room.

Lyerla should be drafted, but will he is the question. He is a freak physically but he does not have a lot of game film at TE position b/c his off field stuff affected his on field work. Lyerla is so talented that he could be successful at several positions, but he needs to exorcise his demons first. Late round, or even going undrafted, could be the best thing for him.

Former Oregon TE Colt Lyerla was forced to work out at Protland State's pro day.
Per Gil Brandt, he was not welcome on Oregon's campus, which makes sense given the way Lyerla left the team. "Good player, lots of problems. Could go undrafted," Brandt added. From the outside looking in, Lyerla would fit perfectly with Chip Kelly in Philadelphia, but we do not know the details of their relationship. Mar 13 - 1:26 PM
