Jaylon and VanderEsch are hurting us beyond badly right now. Add in the mental issues of Gregory and whatever Taco was, and there's your problem. That's 4 high draft picks that should be forming the base of our D right now. All in all, it's the primary reason we suck on D. Replace those 4 w/ a S, nasty DT, nasty MLB, and a nasty pass rushed DE, and we're 4-0. Is it that easy? Of course not. However, taking injured players and players w/ issues is definitely not the answer.

McCoy was known to have injury issues, but Jerry got him anyway, couldn't even make it out of camp.
Not to mention adding free agents like Dix who can't even make the 53 roster.

Jerry has no clue as to how to build a defense, not even what coach to hire.

This underlies Jerry’s approach for the last 25 years. He is trying to put out the most talented roster on the field like there is isn’t a salary cap, instead of the deepest roster with the best schemes.

so the defense gets loaded with high risk reward players, whether the risk is injury, behavior, or mental health. They look great on the field, but they just don’t stay on the field...and we just have too many of them.
