Am I missing something? Everything I've read says it's a four month recovery for him. That puts him back by mid July not September or October........

I have seen him play. He's fantastic. Isn't he injured right now? That's my concern. We've been down that road before, and I'm sick of it. Who is Smith? Where did he play?

His timetable is 4-6 months. The high end would put it into mid September with a few additional weeks to knock off rust in practice.

The training and coaching staffs have much better knowledge of where he stands now than we do from the combine medical rechecks.

He was injured when he was playing. They fixed the problem with surgery. He should actually be better when he heals up. Smith was the Cowboys 2nd round pick from last year from Notre Dame.

Oh, ok. Cool. When you say 'Smith', I was all over the place like, "Smith? Smith, who?". Even if we do get him, I won't be surprised.

That still doesn't make sense. The high end of his 6 month timetable brings him to mid September. Week 7 is late October. Why the extra month+?

I very highly doubt they're going to put him on PUP for labrum when he had surgery right after the Combine.

He's going to need some time to rehab though, BUT if he's killing it ala Jaylon Smith in his rehab workouts, he'll be okay to start the season. Maybe, at worst, a few games inactive to get him acclimated to the league.

Why not? He will play more than half the season and the playoffs.
