Missed something.No. It has been reported numerous times that Smith is the SAM going into 2018-19
Unless I missed something recent? If so, can you point me there, kindly, 88?

Where?Missed something.
Yes but I think you have to factor in the leg the brace and now it's off. That Has to factor in.Like when the Rams (and other teams) specifically targeted him or one of the last 4 games where he played roughly 1/3 of the snaps and averaged less than 3 solo tackles a game?
We saw too much of this last year:
Not enough of this:
Woot! Hope he keeps developing. He was most likely not gonna be a starter at mike in my eyes, but his upside at WIL is what is/was so intriguing. His skillset (high ceiling) is made for the WILI've only seen the highlight film on LVE, but picture him as the Mike over Jaylon. Jaylon, to me was picked as Lee's replacement, which is why they weren't so worried about his starting right away.
This is what many are expecting. It's not his instincts, that anyone can question. It's his confidence. Not in his ability but his leg. Drop foot is life altering. It will have you doubting yourself and your faith. Even if your career has you sitting at a desk.Agreed, CC
He needs more than one season to be properly evaluated, only a dimwit reaches an end conclusion on a rookie season.
Unfortunately, it looks like he will be starting the season at SAM, at least, barring LVE flaiming out. And even if LVE is, heavens forbid, a dud, it looks like Jaylon won’t be the mike, still.
If Jaylon explodes in development year two, demonstrates consistent mike-ability in camp and preseason, this could all change, of course. And boy wouldn’t that be fun!
I completely agree. The good news is our General (Lee) on the defense has been given reinforcements. LVE and Joe Thomas are excellent additions to the LB squad and Covington will challenge Wilson for time on the field. As long as Lee is healthy he will be our WIL, tho, as we try our damnedest to keep him on the field. WIL is less violent for our elite-WIL warrior who battles off the injury bug nearly every season. We crumble when he sits due to injury
Go Jaylon. Go Esch. Go Lee. Go Cowboys
I read all the scouting reports that year the Cowboys coached the senior bowl. That's how I so wanted Wentz to be a Cowboy and the Cowboys became familiar with Dak on the other team. They also became infatuated about Ward at DT. I became very intrigued with that guy every since then. I was disappointed to see the Raiders draft him and even more so when they pulled him out of his natural position resulting in his career not starting out right. Those coaches messed up with him.
He was like a dog chasing hub caps last year.I would have liked to have seen them break down the play where he dove in the complete opposite direction the RB was going at the goal line. I forget which game, was it the Falcons? Weirdest thing I've ever seen, like he was going after a ghost.

Soooooo we'll see.
Still was in on the stop.
Do you realize he had a condition called drop foot and played MLB for The Cowboys. With a brace. Just saying. I didn't see a terrible player that is being forced fed playing time to justify a high pick. I see a progression that more then likely will take that next step this year.
Jaylon without the brace is an improved player
Pun intended
Sean Lee played in 14 games as a rookie and made a whopping 32 combined tackles. Sure doesn't look like he was diagnosing plays all that well when he first came in and he became a stud. Jaylon is a smart player. I don't really worry about that part of his game.I think if I was studying to fly a plane, I'd understand all the controls and how to get it up off the ground. I'd have something to show for it.
Jaylon looked completely lost and wasn't good at diagnosing plays. You know who did come into the league and diagnose plays well? Sean Lee.
I like high football IQ linebackers over athletic ones.
I wasnt in the war room I dont know. I personally wanted Myles Jack. Because of the immediate impact he would have brought to the fieldSo why did we draft a one legged gimp in the second round?
yep, those 24 tackles that Jack had in 2016 would have made a huge impact on our defense.I wasnt in the war room I dont know. I personally wanted Myles Jack. Because of the immediate impact he would have brought to the field
