Talent versus culture what's the most important

Of course, but they're going to have to push a ton of money down the road and get some D players in there.
Unlike what Jerry would have you believe, a "ton of money" to pay players in the NFL is a relative term when it comes to what the NFL makes.

No, we haven't. That's homerism, always thinking we have the talent. Our D was seriously devoid of talent last season.
I didn't say we've ALWAYS had the talent. I meant we've had the talent over the last 30 years to win. Go try to pick an argument elsewhere.

I have witnessed teams in various sports excel with average talent. Usually, those teams come from winning traditions.

Sometimes, they push beyond expectations. And while they do not take home the trophies, they will occasionally get within arms' length of grabbing them.

Super Bowl culture is what has eroded within this franchise. Some teams have not been totally bereft of talent during the past three decades. All of those teams have not owned the will to win though. They possessed on-and-off grit, which will not get any team across the finish line.

Both talent and culture are key components. Each are dependent upon the other. Separate you get, well, you get no conference and/or Super Bowl appearances in 30 years.

Going forward, any Dallas team must build its own championship contending culture despite the inclusion of the franchise owner and family. Nothing is impossible, but the long-standing and established challenge cannot be ignored either.
Could not agree more.

Look at the 2007 Cowboys. That team was loaded on both sides of the ball. Easily the most talented Cowboys roster since the 1990's dynasty era and the most talented team since.

And they lost first playoff game because they lacked a winning culture. Thought they could just show up against an inferior Giants team and win. And that same overachieving Giants team ended up winning it all. With nowhere near the talent of the Cowboys and certainly not the undefeated Patriots team they beat in the SB.

And it should not be forgotten that team sweep the Giants in the regular season. Every postseason should be approached as a reset. Every playoff game must be treated as four-quarters of gritty, life-and-death determination.

Your team's defense cannot surrender a touchdown (ultimately contributed to the final margin of victory) by allowing your opponent's offense to drive the field mainly through penalties with less than 53 seconds before halftime. Everyone on offense cannot go less than full speed with the game on the line--like running a half<expletive> route for a potential touchdown catch and run.

Playoffs separate champions and championship contenders from pretenders. The former bathe in championship culture. The latter avoid diving in, but act like they have been swimming around in it all day.

Of course, that's obvious.

However, that's not what we were referring to. Pushing a ton of money down the road is a different topic than what players are paid.

Culture

this team has had talent and didnt rise to its level.

i dont care if you have Dan Marino, not enough talent and no leadership to set it on course and all you have is a overpriced ball chucker. The team needs to work as one, not many parts doing its own thing. If no one can drive your race car, its useless.

We've had the talent ro win, but not the culture. So it's culture...plus a real head coach.
All true brother the head coach sets the tone for the culture.

Probably why the Giants and Chiefs are paying $20 million for their head coaches while we pay 4mil

Agreed we have had talent in the past but it all goes off on its own private little business decision making ventures.

Our talent seems to follow the business model of our owner and seeks to be the highest paid at their position rather than caring about winning the Super bowl

Our owner sets the culture of the team by making his priority being the richest sports franchise in all the world not the one with the most Super bowl trophies

Look at our quarterback he follows right along with Jerry's culture.
Culture that cares about being the most valuable and highest paid.

Instead of taking a more reasonable salary that would enable us to pay more talented players and be able to win a Super bowl like Tom Brady.

We have to hear some nonsense that he's taking the most money for the brotherhood.

Sounds to me like he just wants to be the highest paid brother in his hood. Not the one with the most Super bowls.

I believe it all starts with a specific plan and the expertise of the decision-makers combined with a clear understanding of their areas and levels of authority.

The GM acquires the talent based on a clear understanding of the coaches team philosophy and needs.

The worse trait for a decision-maker is ambiguity. Both GM and HC must be on the same page of the same plan.

The areas of responsibility for both should never intersect.

The Head coach maintains full control of the team, deciding who plays, who stays and who goes. A fundamental requirement for the coaches is the ability to teach.

All this must be in place before taking steps to acquire the desired type of talent. Otherwise, the talent is neutralized by the lack of cohesion.

i suppose this could be characterized as culture. It is the decision-makers who first establish a culture.

No apologies necessary. I just don't have time to sit you down and explain comments to you.
Awwwwww, now there's the little cheap insult. It's more like you don't have the ability, which is clearly shown by this gradeschool comment. I feel sorry for you, just can't handle adult conversation. Maybe put me on ignore since my posts are clearly beyond your grade school comprehension ability.

Maybe in 07. Mostly, the teams have lacked talent in an area that rose up to bite us in the playoffs.

Why so angry? And why would I put you on ignore? We actually have historically agreed on pretty much everything. Even if we didnt, i don't put anyone on ignore; I'm not that thin-skinned. Only one with cheap insults in this discussion is you. It's not my fault you didn't comprehend the meaning of my post. Again, go pick a fight with Rock or somebody.

Because you decided to start a very silly little insult war. Backtrack and reread.

I corrected you when you called me a homer after I made a comment you didn't comprehend clearly. That's it. If you're mad about that, you're mad.
