CFZ Talented Secondaries We Could Face in the Playoffs?

Let's speculate some. And keep this on the topic at hand. Right now, with all of our guys healthy, we've got Noah Brown, Michael Gallup and Cee Dee Lamb at WRs. We've also got quite the group of TEs.

I'm looking for match ups here, where teams have a good shot at relatively shutting us down in the passing game irrespective of the running game and our defense's performance on the other side of the ball?

I'm strictly talking about passing game vs. a secondary in the passing game. Of course, you have to account for the pass rush, too, so that's a factor. But I'm interested in secondaries vs. our passing attack group and match up we could potentially lose with, say, just an average opposing pass rush in order to assess the actual need for adding someone like OBJ to our offense, or measuring our chances of succeeding without him anyway.

So, give reasons for which secondaries could we face that could pose problems for us if we stay on course to make the post-season?

Way too early to be worrying about this.. Let's get a playoff berth sewed up first before we start analyzing matchups. I swear you guys had to have been the most miserable kids on Christmas.. I bet yall threw a fit and refused to go to sleep and wait for Santa to brang yall stuff didn't ya? Yall were the kinda kids that made poor mom and dad have to stay up till 3-4 in the morning waiting fer ya to finally doze off so they could put your bikes together and put batteries in all yer toys.

We really need to get James Washington healthy soon.

I agree with you there. Not sure why he's not healthy.

By the way, reports say he is ready. Just waiting to get the go ahead to practice.

I wonder if they're waiting to see what happens with Beckham to make a decision on Washington.

Not for nothin but I think Antonio Callaway might be a better fit in our offense anyway.. Especially the way we seem to love that WR screen. Callaway is a bit more dangerous with the ball under his arm .. I think his prowess as a return man points to his being a little better able to house a short one. He has averaged a full yard more after the catch than Washington 5.5 to 4.4 despite playing with far inferior QBs in Cleveland. But Washington is a bigger body, which we don't have at the moment except Noah.. But neither of them is tall.. both listed at 5'11". Frankly I'd be happier if we could find a 6'3" jumpball specialist somewhere over either of them.

..relax with Niners bit, they beat a team with BACKUP QB. Get Murray in there, different story.

Some of us would rather look ahead and prepare for success rather than doubt we'll ever have it.

Mindset matters.

A playoff berth is more than likely, if you're watching what's happening on the field. And keeping up with details off the field.

I think we're in good shape — as good as anyone else in the league.

I'm also aware of the proverbial Any Given Sunday aspect of the league. So if they lose, or by some small chance they don't make the playoffs, I'll still be a fan like always.

I just don't take this **** so seriously that it makes me cynical. I have enough to be cynical about in life, and I'm still relatively cautiously optimistic about things that matter.

This matters on some levels, I suppose. But at the end of the day, I don't allow it to define myself or happiness or mood. I expect to win, but I can also take a loss with grace.
