Look at the OL and see how they adapt to Callahan not being the coach. Do players like Tyron or Fredrick to step up to a new leadership role.

Broaddus: alot of their success was preperation. Have to see if Pollack is the same type of guy to prepare them week to week.

Mickey: Free is the guy who runs the OL meetings.

Need to resign Free, you dont want Parnell starting every week.

They have given Parnell several chances to take over for Free over the course of his career but he couldnt do it.

Parnell hasnt been horrible, but there were times where he couldve gotten Romo killed.

Dennis: lets not panic over Free, he took a paycut because he wants to be a Cowboy. He will be resigned.
Hes the Daddy of the OL he doesnt want to go anywhere.

Prospects for 27
Marcus Golden looked good, stocky looks smaller then 6'2 260 really strong

Odighizuwa looks like he can play both sides but looks better on the left side. Strong with some rush off the edge.

Talking to scouts everybody seems to be looking for edge rushers.

Trey Flowers, when the ball comes outside he's right there. Moving up boards.

Preston Smith is a rangy player. Type of guy who can play LDE and then you can kick him inside.

Guys who you could draft that would make you rethink on resigning players at RB or LB
David Cobb and Jeremy Langford.
Abdulla is more of a specialty type of guy.
Gurley would be the guy but hes hurt now.

broaddus: i have my eye on Mark Ingram

How does Ryan Williams factor in RB? None

Dennis: i have a problem with a trend that you find a RB and let him go after a big yr.

Eagleton: the nfl as a whole has devalued RB going by the statistics who RBs shelf life and Murray has fallen into that category.

The thing that will hurt Murray is he cant take the ball 60 yrds to the house and the fumbles

Nightmare if Dallas has to start the yr with Durant McClain and Lee.

Eagleton: i would like to see Hitchen, McClain and Lee.

Scared to resign McClain? No, but it depends on the money.

Dennis: i dont think McClain is trying to break the bank. He really likes the coaches, i could see McClain signing for 1.5-2mil a yr.

Teams are going to value Carter and he's probably gone.

Mickey: i dont think Carter is going to sign a big deal

I said it the past 2 years. If Parnell has not beaten out Free yet, he never will. Sign Free, move on from Parnell. Then let Weems and a FA or better yet, a draft pick compete, but more like groom to take over.
I'm not sure about Weems either, but he was on IR, so will see how he does in TC.

Broaddus seemed to have something against Williams last year, and still seems he does. And just because he was on the PS all last year, doesn't mean he was right. Only delayed, for obvious reasons with the success of Murray and Randle. I think he pushes Dunbar this year.

And if Broaddus is pushing for Ingram, I'll pass. Just because he seems wrong more than right.

LM, what was meant by the "nightmare" statement? It seems to me that it would be a good thing if those three were available to start (I'm assuming that Hitchens is still in the mix...he isn't going anywhere).

I think Parnell follows Callahan to Washington. Likely for an inflated price tag. I have no problem keeping Free at reasonable cost for both sides and grooming an eventual replacement. Based on the number of tackles they've kept around and signed to futures deal, it looks like that's the plan.

Broaddus seemed to have something against Williams last year, and still seems he does. And just because he was on the PS all last year, doesn't mean he was right. Only delayed, for obvious reasons with the success of Murray and Randle. I think he pushes Dunbar this year.

Not sure where that dismissive attitude comes from with Broaddus. Williams spurned multiple offers and stayed here for a reason. And the team immediately re-signed him for a reason too.

And if Broaddus is pushing for Ingram, I'll pass. Just because he seems wrong more than right.

If there's criticism of Murray's inability to 'take it to the house', that's even more glaring with Ingram. Ingram is a good player, but he looks like a step down from Murray's ability to me.

So much up in the air right now. Think @stasheroo may be right with Parnell to Was. I think Weems can serve as the swing tackle and they must like the vet T to compete there. Not sure we spend a draft pick on the OL unless someone injured falls. We can redshirt one or two guys although I'd prefer zero.

Not sure why Durant, Ro and Lee is a nightmare unless he's talking as @WoodysGirl said durability. Counting on all three may be problematic although I'm not a big believer in past injuries like knees being predictive. You can't ignore it either though. I like Durant a lot. He's versatile and an all around good player. He can play three downs if needed. I Iike Carter although he is an enigma. Not sure but my guess is someone will give him more money than we will. Disappointed this player didn't show us more.

Many here won't like it but I think they will depend on Spencer to be the starting SDE. They just need another pass rusher in or out with my preference being WDE to compliment Lawrence.

I'd get two CBs who can tackle and cover with some length to compete with the rest of the gang. They will have to have a pretty good safety to drop to them otherwise they will look past 3 to draft one; JMO.

They need a cover LB to throw in the mix. I'd look for a big college safety/joker like Holloman to push for time in SPs and maybe play some Will as well as add depth at safety. 6-2 or 6-3 230ish with 4.5-6 speed who can cover decently. Holloman was one example but another would be someone Woody's size and speed.

Nice post.
I may be one of the few that wouldn't mind if Carter was re-signed. Let him test the market, then go from there. It's not like he is a must to sign. But I would not complain if he did.
He did make some big plays at the right time last season. But I understand why he can be replaced also.
Maybe he is too inconsistent I guess. As you said he needed to show more, but with some stability finally in place on defense, maybe he will show more.

So Free changed from being the weakest link of that line to the Big Daddy and leader in the Oline meetings. Interesting.

That's about it. I'm sure he coaches know more. If they retain him it will say a lot and if not.....

There's no way to know right now. Someone will give him decent money. I wouldn't let him walk unless it was too costly. He's not a must but a want.

broaddus: i have my eye on Mark Ingram

Why?

The thing that will hurt Murray is he cant take the ball 60 yrds to the house and the fumbles

Yeah because we routinely see RB take it 60 yards to the house everyweek.

Dennis: i have a problem with a trend that you find a RB and let him go after a big yr.

Myth or reality? What team has actually let a RB go after a big year? I dont recall many 27 year old, 1,800 yd backs who were 'let go'.

I think LB is the most overrated position on the field. Might be wrong. Seems I can find any decent athlete to run to the ball or put him in the right positions in coverage.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Rarely do I agree with Spagnola, but he sounds dead on here.

Hopefully, some teams look at Parnell and his age and throw starter money at him.

Dennis: lets not panic over Free, he took a paycut because he wants to be a Cowboy. He will be resigned.
Hes the Daddy of the OL he doesnt want to go anywhere.

He is also looking at probably his last contract. I don't see many teams lining up to push him out of a reasonable range to re-sign.

Talking to scouts everybody seems to be looking for edge rushers.

Nothing new here, that is every year and why it is bad to have a glaring need for the role.

Trey Flowers, when the ball comes outside he's right there. Moving up boards.

Since Orchard is probably out of range, he is probably next to get elevated.

Preston Smith is a rangy player. Type of guy who can play LDE and then you can kick him inside.

Already have that in Crawford. We need less ambiguity and more specifics to get the rush on track. Too bad because I think he is very underrated.

Nightmare if Dallas has to start the yr with Durant McClain and Lee.

I get the injury concerns, but if healthy, they are the most skilled trio.

Mickey: i dont think Carter is going to sign a big deal

I would agree, but you never know how teams look at a 12-4 team and over value, failing to look at the player's overall inconsistency.

I think by all these rumors of us looking at rb in free agency or Gordon in the first really is devaluing demarco. I think he returns honestly by spreading these rumors teams could shy away and think it's our oline and we get him for cheaper.

I do see our whole d overhauled. As long as we resign 2 out of 3 linebackers id be happy. Carter id like back but I think he's gone. He could have played his way out of dallas.

Carter has been so inconsistent I think another team would be crazy if they offer him big money.
