Yeah, that's my issue with resigning Free. Something was obviously going on there that wasn't immediately reported at the end of the season. It sounds like it was just bone spurs, which could readily be taken care of in the offseason, but if it's something different, or chronic, then we're probably also in the market for a RT. Let's hope we're not.

He had ankle surgery for bone spurs in both Jan 2014 and Jan 2015. I don't know if it was the same ankle or not.

so basically these guys disagree on every point.
nothing wrong with that but it indicates there is nothing but opinion being shared, not inside info.

and/or that they are focusing on entertaining listeners/viewers rather than accuracy.

it reduces the effect of each take but it is good for discussion.

various thoughts:
Free: He has been the long-time vet and leader. That didn't just happen. Resigning him is huge for a ton of reasons most fans won't want to hear but are common sense. As long as he is reasonable with money you keep him here.

Hayden: He will definitely be back. Rod loves the guy and he will get him back if he wants him. Hopefully he plays less next year but chances of him being here are near 100% imho.

LB: Hitchens is going to start somewhere. He's the right age, talent and price. After that we gotta see what Durant. Carter, McClain want. 2 of those 3 could be back. Not all 3. You'd love Durant as a super-sub. His body may can not handle full-time duty but he can play all 3 spots well. You need 4 starters with the injury history of these guys.

draft: everyone last year focused on adding 4 DL and we basically added 1. they'll always look at DL but it's probably not going to be a deal where they grab 3 or 4 of them. dallas FO/staff likes it's DL better than the fan base does and they were very right last year. it needs help but it isn't the dumpster fire the fans felt.
there are some interesting things dallas could do with a slot WR/returner or speciality RB.
they can go a lot of directions and get value if they want to focus as they did last year on best players available.

I found an image of the Cowboys media dept. I'm not sure which one is Broaddus and which one is Mickey. I guess Mickey is standing on a chair.

I don't see him being pushed into a starting gig here but I could see him follow Callahan to Wash and start there at a price beyond what we pay Free.

They like Morgan Moses. I don't think that is a likely destination for him.

He is more likely to go to a talent poor team with no right tackle that thinks he was a big part of a 12-4 team.

What Washington liked pre-Callahan may well be very different now.
Callahan is a ZBS guy and they will almost certainly let him install it and go to work.
It would help him tremendously to take a guy who knows his system and scheme.
For Parnell he'd go over as a leader and a guy that knows the OC.

The biggest part of what Washington has to do on offense is change personality, identity and culture.
With no QB they've got to want to rely upon a running game and they almost certainly hired Callahan to duplicate what Dallas did this year with running the ball.
