Yeah it seemed the prevailing word was that If not for parnell getting injured last year in camp he may have won the RT battle over Free.

I don't know if there was truth in that or not.

Whether it was true or not at that time, at this time the prevailing word is that both he and weems are struggling.

I also find it curious that so far I have not heard anything about Z.Martin getting some 2nd or third team reps at RT. We hear of him getting 2nd or 3rd team reps at OC. I don't know if they just don't view him as a possible RT candidate (backup or future starter) right now and do not want to put too much on his plate right now. Or if they just want to see him as an inside player.

I think they know all they need to know about him playing tackle. you dont see college players starting 52 games anymore. I think if Free were to get hurt we would see Martin start at RT and mack moved back to RG

• Tyron Cowboy for life

• Told there is a deal on the table for Dez, its a matter if he want to sign it right now.

• NFL in works with Direct TV, so expect the Salary cap to go even higher.

• Once Dez is signed what about Murray? Is there money for him?

The money is there. If they want him he will be signed. Dallas had figured out how to walk the line with the cap and still do what they want.

Day of the Rb is over, wont see Murray or any RB break the bank anymore.

Dallas learned its lesson with Marion Barber, wont do it again.

• Not much talk about Free, how is he doing?

Free had been very steady. has played with nice technique.

• Resign Free? You have to see if the plan is to kick Martin outside at RT.

• Romo approach is the right one. Limit the risk of injury. Romo hasnt shown any sign of struggling to throw any types of passes. He's fine

• Lawrence injury happened with his cheat sticking and him rolling over on it.

Its a big blow, because Lawrence was going to start. But the team is better prepared this yr to handle injuries.

• If Mincey isnt the guy watch for Selvie to move over to the right side. And Crawford playing the left side.

• The flexibility of Wilber also isnt a bad option.

• What UDFA is having the best TC. Davin Coleman, by far.

• Dallas backup OL is a concern. Weems and Parnell in particular.

I believe Talkin Cowboys is the best place for accurate Cowboys news (honorable mention The Lunch Break).

This has to be a Mickey quote.

Dallas has figured out that if you cut some of your best players and let other quality guys walk that you can have a little cap space to use.

No way...at his age and the ceiling for RB's at about 27 or 28, you don't pay them big money and 9mil for 3 is about
all he can get with his injury history. If his agent gets him more then let him walk. He can be found in next years
draft for lots less money and less wear & tear. Marion Barber set a bad example that the Cowboys will not allow
to happen again...At least I hope!!!

Something tells me he could get more than the 3 years, $9M that BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Joique Bell were given.

Not paying Murray what he is worth because Marion Barber turned about bad is a horrible route to take.

May as well never pay any player again because at some point or another Jerry has probably paid a player at every position more than he should have.

I would not pay any RB that was not at the level of AP anything close to $5 million a year.

Agreed..................paying top money for a RB (unless he is AP) is just flat out stupid.

RB is one of the easiest positions to play in the NFL, that is why rookies can come in and have great seasons immediately. Conversely, rookie WRs usually take 2-3 seasons to really hit their prime.

Sorry, "one of of their best players".

I can see now how the sentiment I was expressing in ridiculing Mickey has entirely changed.

From now on I'll take more care in making sure that my mockery is completely free of insignificant errors.

How much are college athletes being paid? Get 'em all down to earth and dedicated to the sport again...instead of Hollywood fame and a star's kingdom. Dang, they already are paid better than Governors for a State...and that is with the under-the-table incomes.

Not paying player A because player B who plays the same position didn't turn out well doesn't make sense to me. They are 2 completely different players.

That is was singular and not plural is not insignificant. It belies your point.

The Cowboys do not have a history of letting guys go to make room. Quite the opposite as i recall the criticism that they hold onto players too long.

If you say so.

It doesn't matter if they have a history of it. In fact, the statement would indicate that they just figured it out so their history isn't even a part of the equation, but that's besides the point.

They came into the cap space they have by watching Hatcher leave and by cutting Ware. Of course having players leave opens up cap space. This isn't groundbreaking.

And market for free agents that haven't just set the world ablaze is going down, and trending over the past three seasons.

Rule of thumb is you only overpay for QB, LT, RDE and shutdown CB. Everything else can be had at market prices or less.
Next rule of thumb is never overpay for age which Jerry has done way too much over the last 20 years.

I read somewhere recently that giving him some snaps at RT was coming pretty soon. Guess they don't want to throw too much too fast at him.
