Can I get some opinions from folks who have seen Jackson play?

I am a little confused by this player. I have seen him listed as a Saftey and as a Corner.

This tends to tell me he could possibly be a good cover FS if he has CB skills.

Almost everywhere I look he is projected in the 2nd round, so there must be something about him, but honestly I have never seen him play, and I can not recall any discussions about drafting him.

Anybody?

Haven't actually seen him play, only seen his highlights

what I saw was an aggressive CB who can really hit. I read he prefers to go for the big hit instead of going for the ball, which is probably why people have him going to safety in the pros.

i would also like to hear from someone who actually watched him play

Height: 6-0
Weight: 192
Position: Cornerback
College: Syracuse

OVERVIEW

Jackson isn't as flashy as many of the top cornerbacks who highlight the 2007 draft crop. He lacks the elite speed and his five career interceptions are less than what some have accumulated just this season. For some, especially teams operating a zone coverage, however, Jackson could prove to be one of the more underrated prospects at the position. Quicker than fast, Jackson reads the action well and is a dependable defender in space. With 45 games under his belt, he should be able to make an immediate contribution.

Jackson's lack of big plays has led to his going largely unnoticed throughout his career. Despite being a veteran of 33 starts over the past three seasons, Jackson only earned conference accolades after this, his senior campaign -- and that was second-team honors. Regardless, Jackson is expected to be selected on the first day of the draft.

ANALYSIS

Positives: Long armed, with a smooth total body musculature … Rare size and size potential at the position at 6-foot, 195 pounds … Very good body control and overall quickness … Can mirror the receiver at the line of scrimmage and has a smooth swivel to turn and run … At his best in zone coverage … Good diagnostic skills … Reads the quarterback's eyes well and can break on the ball … Reads the action, but remains disciplined and is rarely out of position … Good overall tackler, though he can get in some trouble when he tries to lay the boom … Physical tackler and likes to intimidate his opponent with his striking ability … Rare toughness in run support.

Negatives: Lacks timed speed … Might be best suited to zone-coverage scheme as he loses ground as the route lengthens … Has improved his hands, but isn't a natural receiver … Seems much more interested in tackling the receiver than going for the ball … Has only five career interceptions and finished with only six total pass breakups this season (including two interceptions).

HIGH SCHOOL

PrepStar All-Atlantic Region honorable mention … Rated No. 21 player in the Mid-Atlantic by SuperPrep … Two-time first-team all-state selection, three-time all-metro honoree and four-time first team all-county award winner … Played on two league championship teams … Won team MVP award after scoring 15 TDs, 483 yards receiving, 1,132 yards, four interceptions, 78 tackles and two sacks as a senior captain … Made 60 tackles, had three interceptions and broke up 19 passes as a junior, winning team?s Defensive Player of the Year Award … Won team?s Coaches Award as sophomore … Set school record with 19 career interceptions … Career statistics: 39 TDs, 252 tackles, 3,121 yards rushing and 1,007 receiving yards … Member of Multicultural Student Union … Recruited by assistant coach Chris White.

PERSONAL

Tanard Ricardo Jackson … Born July 21, 1985, in Silver Spring, Md. … Son of Tiffany Jackson … Majoring in communications and rhetorical studies.

Every time I've seen him he looks super fluid on the field... kinda like Reggie Nelson. Just smooth. Also, he tends to kind of raise the play of those around him by the way he flies around.

I really like the guy and think he'd make a heck of a FS in the NFL. He's got a corner's skills and in the senior bowl he not only showed he isn't selfish by offering to play safety... he showed that he has the instincts for the position.

I'd love for us to nab him in round 2.

He looks to be a good safety. But if pro scouts determine he'd be a good corner, he might be a good option to bring in to put pressure on Henry as our "big" corner.

I have never really seen him challenged by a QB/WR so its hard to say..that could be a good thing (great coverage)but it might be that it was just easier to get a completion somewhere else...but one poster said he looked fluid I would have to agree with that he did seem to be very fluid..but much more than that I couldn't tell you
