TCU's Blake getting look from Bucs
May 2, 2008 6:04 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

Once upon a time, Tommy Blake was supposed to be a first-round draft pick in 2008. That was before he left the Texas Christian team prior to the 2007 season. Blake returned to the team late last season, but his draft stock tumbled.

He wasn't even drafted and he didn't even get signed as a free agent. But Blake is at least getting a look. He's one of 34 undrafted rookies who are trying out with the Bucs during a three-day rookie camp.

"We want to just look at him,'' Bucs coach Jon Gruden said. "He's had some well-documented ups and some well-documented downs. But he's a young guy and we want to look at him for ourselves and try to get all the evaluations done in our minds that we can, and give the kid an opportunity to present himself as a pro football player. We'll judge our conclusions when
we get them."

Tommy Blake, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jon Gruden

I think the Cowboys brought him in before the draft - must not have liked what they saw.

I was to until I saw they signed the guy from Georgia Tech and they got a little info on Walden after the draft. Blake would just be crowding things up at OLB right now.

I too was hoping the Cowboys would of signed him. They did bring in him for a visit prior to the draft, but I guess they didn't like something about him. I hope it works out for him with the Bucs.

yeah, guys, i was wanting the cowboys too look at him too, but best thing for him is to pray that the Lord brings him to the right team that fits his style of play, since he is a christian;

and the bucs best i remember run a 4-3, i think tommy blake fits that style of defense better, we need bigger DE's for our 3-4
