Not necessarily. It's a matter of giving yourself as many opportunities as possible to find good players. Let's face it, there is a little bit of luck involved when it comes to drafting players. So if you happen to get a bit lucky on even one of these seventh rounders and find a solid starter, it will be worth all these players combined. And starters are found in the later rounds all the time, still plenty of good players to be had.

Not when the starter has injury problems, one back up is currently injured and another back up is a rookie.

hit the nail on the head. I think 3 may have been fine, even w/ a rookie, but I think Tanner proved his worth in preseason being able to carry at least some of the load against starting-caliber defenses. Weren't gonna release the rookie. Dunbar has a lot of potential (got to see some in preseason again this year) and Murray can be Murray if healthy.

Plus, maybe it means the playcalling doesn't get predictable in certain situations where we know Romo's gonna look for Witten or Dez (goalline/short yardage)

No he is a receiving tight end. Andre Smith is the blocker and has out played him through training camp. With Hanna and Escobar a blocker was necessary.

He's definitely the best inline blocker per reports. But who is the F back? Gotta have one. It ain't Escobar. Maybe Smith can do that. Hanna seems ok at it.
