After the game when Ellis got hurt (he was injured late in the third quarter against Arizona), we were tied for 21st in sacks. Right now, we're tied for 24th.
With Ellis, we had 19 sacks in 260 pass attempts (279 total pass plays), for a sack rate of 6.81 percent. Since the injury, we've had eight sacks in 176 attempts (184 pass plays), for a sack rate of 4.34 percent.
However, our sack rate in the first four games of the season was 8.51 percent before it dropped off, even with Ellis. In Ellis' last 4.75 games, our sack rate was 4.70 percent. So since those first four games, it's 4.70 with Ellis and 4.34 without him. It certainly SHOULD be higher with Ellis than without him, but the dropoff hasn't been that great from what it was in his final month. And maybe it would have gone back up to 6 or 7 percent if we still had him, but it's difficult to say for sure.
