Dolphins first-round pick Ted Ginn Jr.'s foot injury is a Lisfranc sprain and will need to be immobilized next week.
However, Ginn wasn't in a protective boot Thursday as ESPN reported, and Miami's medical staff believes he'll be fine by July. But Ginn, who is entering the pros as a raw route runner, will have missed quite a bit of work by then and faces an uphill climb to take Marty Booker's starting job.

Guys, I knew he had something worse than just a foot sprain. As an athlethic trainer, to me, it didn't make sense that it took this long for just a sprained foot to heal. Remember, he got injured in Jan and know it is May, with it still not being healed.

For the people that are not sure what a Lisfranc Sprain is, here is what it is.
The lisfranc injury is a fracture and dislocation of the midfoot region.

Our 4th round Pick...Stanback is recovering from the Lisfranc injury.

It appears his prognosis was an 8 month recovery time. He said he was in month 6 of an 8 month recovery. Although he did say he was working out with it already.

I agree, I'm not a physical trainer or anything like that, but it does seem like this little foot injury sure is presistent. Question: Is this one of those injuries that can keep reoccuring after getting it once? Sorta like turf toe where after you get it, it's a lot easier for it to keep happening?

Ayuh... They should have done a more thorough job of investigating his injury...

Now, if Ginn was HIDING it from them, I wonder what the Dolphins next move would be...

Did Miami know the magnitude of the injury? If yes, then they REALLY didn't want Quinn and they REALLY did want Ginn.

Exactly, in the long run it doesnt matter if he misses some time this year, if he turns out to be a good player for the next 10 years its just a blip for a team that has little shot of making the playoffs this year anyway. Unless Miami trades for Green they will be lucky to win 8 games.

Ireland said that the doctors have told our coaching staff that he is 85-90% healed. The Cowboys will go easy with him in training camp. They don't have to rush Stanbach because we have plenty of depth.

As for the Dolphins, well, not to smart taking him @#9, expecting him to be ready for camp, MISTAKE!
For the healing process, there are some factors, one being how quickly a person heals and how bad or the grade of the sprain is.

Good question! It really depends on the way a person heals. There is no guareentee that it won't happen again. That is why we need to use caution and make sure it is 100%.

We don't need to rush him, we have Hurd and Miles as depth. Irlend thinks he will be ready by camp.

Miami had to have known that it was, they just deemed that it would heal. My question is, did Ginn have surgery like Stanback?

Anyone know a good Dolphins site? I'd love to see the over reactions to this.

Miami's doctors are incompetent.

They considered Brees a risk and Culpepper healthy last year.

I wouldn't trust them to tell me a thing about Ginn's status.

Jimmy took some of the medical staff that was in Dallas to Miami. I wonder if any of them are still around. They misdiagnosed Aikmans back early in his career. I think that was in 1991 and he decided to get a second opinion and ended up having surgery.

Good point.

Our medical staff in Dallas also suggested a variety of bad decisions.

Jimmy Smith would never play. Charles Haley, Jay Novacek and Troy Aikman could.

I would not be surprised if a few of them were involved over there with this.

My point was Stanback's injury occurred during the regular season while Ginns happened during a bowl game that was about a month after the season ended....meaning while Stanback is towards the end of his recovery time at best it would seem like Ginn is just halfway through his.
