I just got hooked up with DirecTV (finally!) and am interested in the Sunday Ticket package. Can somebody please tell me how the whole system works (I couldn't find what I was looking for on the DirecTV website)?

- Are all of the games available at a given time each on their own channel, or do you have to call up and select them?
- If a game is being carried on one of my local network channels, is it blacked out on the Ticket?
- Will the Ticket games work seamlessly with Tivo, as far as being able to set them up as Season Passes?

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks in advance ..... proline

1. There on their own channels. You do not have to select.
2. Yes, the game will be blacked out.
3. I don't have Tivo so not sure about that one.

Highly suggest NOT getting the package where 6 or 8 games are on at the same channell and zooms in on the game when a team is in the Red Zone. Just flip between games or you'll get updates like FOX and CBS normally does.

No, you can't do the Tivo season pass with the NFL games...different teams on different channels each week.

Just look thru the channel guide the night before the games and set up to record the game you want...I always set up recording for an extra hour in case the game runs long.

As you probably already know, you can only record 2 programs at the same time and then you have to watch one of those programs, if you try to change the channel to a 3rd program you will cancel one of the 2current recordings.

I have it and it's well worth the $. Even though I have season tix, there are still 8 other games to watch and I don't want to worry about the Cowboys game not on here in Houston. There are usually 2 or 3 games a year in which the Texans are at home and playing the same time as the Cowboys, and those games are not carried.

As far as Tivo, it works well, but you have to do the recording manually.

Plus, I assume you have the NFL Network and they will be re-broadcasting 4 of the best games each week. Two on tuesday and two on wed. So in case you Tivo the games that won't be re-broadcasted, you have a chance to seem them again.

If you buy the Super fan Package you can set up a Season Pass...But ONLY if you have Super Fan.

I have the Sunday Ticket and have had it for 5 years. It's the best deal going, especially for thpse of us who do not live in Dallas. I also have Tivo and it works well. You can also put all the games in a folder on your tivo and then dump them to a DVD recorder. Sweeeeeeeet!

Thanks, all, for the comments. I live in Commanders country, and all my life it's made me sick to have important Dallas games (like 'Boys vs. 49ers in the mid-nineties as well as many, many others) superceded by pitiful and unimportant Washington vs. Mia, CLE, Cardinals, etc. I'm really looking forward to this! :)

I just noticed last week that the Tivo put some of my recordings into folders...how do you dump them into a dvd recording as a folder?

What is happening is that Tivo is putting like titles in individual folders so you can find them easier. For example: I Tivo Kenneth Copeland everyday so that I can watch 5 or six at a time to get the teachings all at once. What Tivo does is it creates a folder that says "Kenneth Copeland" and all of them are in that folder so I can scan through them. When I want to save a series of teachings, I just select the one I want to record and then select "Save to VCR" (DVD recorder is the same thing). Now I do have to let it play in real time but I can go back and do that for each episode. Once I'm done with a particular series, I close out the recording and save it on the DVD and it's done.

I have done this for the recent Cowboys specials on NFL network. Grouped them all in a folder that said Dallas Cowboys and then started dumping them to DVD. Also, if there is something that you really want to keep, you can do this and it will free up space on the Tivo's hard drive.

Glad I am not the only one. I have season tickets and sunday ticket. My wife thinks I am a moron. I like to tivo the cowboys game and then one of the nfc east games.

If you are computer savvy, you can do what myself and tek do. Tivo the game, capture it at 100% quality on your pc, then edit out the commercials and halftime and keep the game on Two discs at 100% quality, 1-1 ratio it will be great forever. If you just dump it to a dvd from a stand alone recorder it will probably burn at like 35 or 40 % quality because you can only get one half on a disc at 100%.

Anyway, since you are out of market u will love it. When I lived in ny I had it, have had it since 98 actually and it is the greatest. The next best thing to being there.

And again with the tv, just go in the menu and select the game during the week or the day before and add an extra hour to the recording so you get the whole thing. I live in DFW so all games are on local channels but I thought I read this year they are not going to black it out when Dallas is on like channel 4 fox here and then 720 on the ticket. I guess they will both be on this year.

Also you get coachs shows an hour before the pregame, not sure if the cowboys broadcasts are on there or not though.

Enjoy it man sunday ticket is one of the greatest things ever for sports fans. Its become very pricey, but worth it. This year I will probably record all the skins, eagles and giants games so I can watch every second of the division.

- Are all of the games available at a given time each on their own channel, or do you have to call up and select them? EACH GAME HAS IT'S OWN CHANNEL AND THEY ARE ALL AVAILABLE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL FOR ANYTHING.
- If a game is being carried on one of my local network channels, is it blacked out on the Ticket? YES SOMETIMES BUT YOU WILL STILL OBVIOUSLY GET THE GAME ON THE NETWORK CHANNEL.
- Will the Ticket games work seamlessly with Tivo, as far as being able to set them up as Season Passes? YES.
