Titans coach says Pacman has to 'look elsewhere'
By PAUL KUHARSKY • Staff Writer • March 27, 2008
Coach Jeff Fisher indicated today that the Titans are finished with Pacman Jones, but then backed off what seemed like a definitive statement.
The Titans recently gave Jones and his representatives permission to seek a trade. A deal could be in the works with the Cowboys, who reportedly are willing to give up a fifth-round draft pick for the suspended cornerback.

“We’ve given them permission to look for a new home and whatever happens after that happens,” Fisher said. “He’s entitled to his opinion. I know he has enjoyed the time that he has spent here on the football field. But because of his choices and such off the field, he’s created a situation where he’s going to have to look elsewhere.”
Asked then if that meant the Titans are officially finished with Jones, Fisher said no.
A trade or any move concerning Jones would have to be signed off on by Commissioner Roger Goodell, Fisher said.
“All we can do is move forward and if we’re able to put something together that we think is good, then we’ll just wait on the commissioner’s decision,” Fisher said. “It’s a peculiar situation, one that’s a result of (Jones’) personal choices and it’s really just in the commissioner’s hands.”
Jones could be traded while suspended, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said today. During a lengthy interview on a Dallas radio station Tuesday, Jones said he wants to play for the Cowboys.
As for the sentiment that a trade to the Cowboys could be viewed as a reward for Jones, Fisher said:
“Last year when he was suspended by the commissioner in the offseason, we moved on. So those are not issues as far as we are concerned.”
Jones is still serving a season-long NFL suspension for off-field behavior issues and Goodell has indicated the penalty might not be lifted until later this summer.
Agents representing Jones did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.
