After his first season during which he led the Cowboys in both receptions and touchdowns, but also led the team in dropped passes, will Terrell finally have the break-out season for the Cowboys like he had for the Eagles in 2004? If his recent surprise practice sessions at the Cowboys minicamp is any indication, then it would have to be a resounding yes.

Being an avid Cowboys fan, I have to admit that I, like most other fans of the “Boys”, did not exactly relish the acquisition in 2006 of such a volatile, yet talented player. I go further and admit I almost wished he had left in the off-season as was highly speculated. But if he can continue on the quick path of recovery from his finger surgery and not blow-up with the media, then maybe I will be able to proudly hail him as a true Dallas Cowboy.

These are certainly a lot of “ifs” and that is why I don’t think it will ever happen for T.O. in Dallas. He will have plenty of opportunity with Tony Romo starting at QB for a full season and the other talent added in the off-season to help the Cowboys possibly go deeper into the playoffs than they have in the past 10 years. But let’s face it, Cowboys are Cowboys and T.O. is T.O. and neither the twain shall meet.

Just by the title I almost didn't read this, I'm fine with him being a Cowboy.

T.O is the number one WR on this team...

If you don't believe it, your high.
The media will forever beg to differ. Every big play Glenn makes will have the loudmouths questioning who our best WR is. The numbers and reality will never be enough to convince them otherwise.

There are only a handful of players that can do what T.O. does...

Glenn is great, but T.O. is the more explosive.

Glenn I think is the most consitent reciever on third downs.

Both are equally valuable for what the bring to the table with their own individual talents and proficiencies.

I thought this was another nathanlt thread.

I haven't been here long enough to know about nathan, but from reading his past T.O. threads, I have to say :laugh2:

I think he's a tremendous WR. But he'll never be a true Cowboy to me. He stood on the star. I'll root for him but I won't ever forget that. He's a rent-a-star.

Well, I certainly respect your opinion, but there may be another side of the coin. T.O. wants to win. When he isn't winning, he is unhappy. After demanding or wanting a trade out of San Francisco, or forcing his trade, he refused to go to Baltimore because he thought Philadelphia was better equipped to go to the Super Bowl. T.O. finally got to the Super Bowl, recovering from a serious leg injury well before expected to do so. He played his butt off trying to secure the win, but was let down by erratic quarterback play, and coaching.

The next year T.O. expects the team to return to the Super Bowl, but sees more coaching and quarterback malfeasance, and he voices his displeasure about playing with losers. He finally gets suspended, and the rest is history.

T.O. goes to Dallas, and the media goes nuts. The coach has a bigger ego than T.O., and as expected, there is trouble. Both the coach and the player engage in playing chicken, but, T.O. didn't quit during the year, achieving team high stats.

The coach quits, but T.O. returns for 2007. I myself think T.O. will be a very happy camper as long as the team is winning, or losing by some fluke play. T.O. will not accept mediocrity in either coaching or quarterbacking if it appears either cost the team a victory.

I am not an apologist for T.O. If he leads the team to the Super Bowl this year, he will lead them to victory.

Jobber ,while I respect your opinion,in todays NFL they are all just rental players.Sadly this is not the same NFL some of us grew up knowing. My mentality is I am just as true to the star as any player who wears it.When he was the enemy I was mad as a hornet for what he did, he now is family and I will embrace him and support him.I also do not support players when they choose to leave the star. While Emmit will always have his place as a Cowboy I was not unhappy that his time in Arizona was not a success.

I understand how you feel. For the same reasons I don't even feel I have anything to forgive Emmitt for. Or Dorsett. I'll just never forgive TO for grandstanding on the Star. But I respect him as a player. And if you look at my posts you'll see I don't bash him at all. I'd say I defend him.

Adderley, Jackie Smith, etc are all Cowboys to me although I think of Herb more as a Packer and Smith more as a St Louis Cardinal. But TO will never get that blessing from me.

Emmitt and Tony both had well publicized spats with management about their contracts and/or playing time. Emmitt called the franchise and moreso his teammates "trash" after he left.

They both hurt the franchise in a more direct fashion than any idiotic showboating incident. Are they lesser "Cowboys" because of that?

I don't quite understand why fans want to put players on a pedestal. Their value to me begins and ends with their contribution on the football field. Sad, brutal and impersonal I know, but that's just how I am. I gave up the emotional attachments long ago simply because the game has changed.

Jackie Smith? He's the numbskull responsible for perhaps one of the biggest gaffes in team history. He was only a Cowboy for a season and overall, we were worse as a franchise because of him. He can rot for all I care.

Does it even matter who is the number 1 guy? I mean, I really dont care as long as they are making big plays each.
