Where do you think he stacks up ? From what I have seen, his hands and overall body control and awareness are just amazing. It almost seems like every touchdown catch he makes is a highlight catch lol So what do you think?

I never know what to say about Glenn. It's hard to say he's one of the best in the league since he didn't really do all that much in New England, then hid on the depth chart in Green Bay, but...he's one of the best.

I think he's a guy who you can neutralize with double teams for the most part, so it's hard to say he's as good as some guys who can beat those double teams, but if you single him he will beat you every time. He cuts so quickly and runs such good routes that he gets open almost at will. Plus, like you mentioned, his body control and hands are just ridiculous.

He's right there with Houshmanzadeh, Boldin, and a few of these other guys as elite #2 receivers. Heck, he might really be our number 1 right now.

I think Glenn took the TO signing a little personally, and is responding with a career year. Best hands in the NFL? Hard to say, but he's a very good receiver. I thought he'd start to decline this year, and I stand corrected. He's playing phenomenal, and should be a shoo-in for the pro-bowl if he stays healthy.

That's a foolish thing to think. If you remember, Terry Glenn was very happy about the TO signing. It meant that he doesn't get doubled anymore. The dividends are paying out for him now.

He very rarely drops a catchable pass and makes a lot of difficult catches too. Overally he may not have the best hands but he should make any list if you're being obejctive and inclusive.

I think he has the best feet, it's freakish to watch him close to the sidelines or the end zone, tap, step, or drag his feet in bounds.

best hands I would say go to T. Holt maybe? Best feet go to Glenn tho.

I think TG has the best hand position of any WR I have ever seen play. I am not saying he has the best hands, but his hands are always in the proper position. Always. I think thats why he actually missis some catches.

The ones he seems to drop are low and in front of him and I think that is because he refuses to cradle the ball. He will always try to get the proper hand below the ball, when sometimes on low balls it may be best to get both hands underneath the ball.

He is just a thing of beauty to watch as a WR, footwork, hands - it is just incredible at times.

He is right up near the top in terms of % of passes caught when he is the target (78.9%)

You can check it out here: percentpassescaughtbytarget

It only lists the top 20 in each conference (includes all receivers: WR, TE, & RB) so if he is included then he must be pretty good. Many of those listed are RBs or TEs who you would expect to catch a higher % of passes thrown in their direction since they are more likely to be short dumpoffs rather than deep passes to a WR.

Glenn has shown excellent hands throughout his career but he has improved as he has gotten older. He is actually making more big plays too.

Wow, so he's 5th overall among WRs.

Yep, that's pretty darn good. Especially when you consider that he doesn't get a lot of short passes unlike some of the others.

It's times ike these I wish Nors were still here. ;)

Terry might not even have the best hands on the team - I've heard it said enough that Patrick's are better.

That may well be true (and I hope it actually is as PC has many more years of service in Dallas to come than TG), but until a player has played a certain amount of games, and been thrown a certain number of balls, such comparisons aren't possible.

Someone mentioned TG's technique, aka hand postioning, but the reason why he DOES have the rep for the "best hands in the league", is, imo, that he holds on as many bone-jarring catches, and more high elevation, super-agility or low diving catches than anyone.

Holt is a better overall receiver, but Terry's agility allows him to make plays on balls Holt's doesn't. I think what makes T special in this area isn't concentration (all the good ones have that) but his great body control, which permits him to elevate, contort, flex, and toestep for passes that would be uncatcable balls for players with lesser agility. And no matter what angle he falls, or what direction he gets hit from, the ball doesn't knock away.

I think his good hands are more than anything a consequence of how amazingly large his hands are for his size, and the point guard ease with ball handling. He was a pretty good high school basketball player, and actually, the football coach at his HS saw him bounding around the court one day, and pressed him into service on the football team.

PS I'm lovin' these TG theads -

like it doesn't show. ;)

I mostly agree. I think Glenn really liked the signing, it's the notoriety Owens receives that Glenn is taking personally. He has to admit though that Owens and Witten are drawing coverage away from him, heck Owens is like a magnet out there.

When defenses have to scheme against these two, I think we'll really see Witten and Crayton get their shots. Of course the running game has already seen a big boost from Owens' presence as well as an improved OL.

I'm more worried about Glenn, rather then Owens.

Glenn is a very good reciever and great threat.

Cowboys have an awesome combo with the two.

I'm worried about your all purpose tailback, who I see as almost as compete a player as Marshall Faulk in his prime.

Westbrook will present a real test for our backers, and the entire D.

We'll see how they use him.

The Eagles might try to spread the ball around more.

With Stallworth, L.J. Smith, and Reggie Brown getting more touches.

You mean Westbrook? I agree he presents the biggest matchup problem for our team; I don't agree that he's a complete back.

In fact, I don't think Marshall Faulk was a complete back, really, though he was a deadly weapon in the passing game when the offense was spread out. Remember, the Colts straight-up traded him away and they did for a reason. Against a good defense Faulk looked slow, indecisive, and he'd often run into his own players. I recall playoff games where he just disappeared because real teams game-planned against him. Emmitt never disappeared in playoff games, nor would other complete backs like Walter Payton or Curtis Martin.

Neither Faulk nor Westbrook could/can run when everyone knows they're getting the ball-- and that's a key aspect of being a complete back IMO. Complete backs don't need the field spread or a draw play to make plays. Julius Jones is also limited in that he succeds at plays like draws but has trouble on other kinds of runs. BP has to manage when and where he runs Julius and Reid has to do the same with Westbrook.

Julius has the everydown tools to improve, but like Westbrook he has trouble staying healthy-- another thing complete backs find ways to do.

I think Clinton Portis is the best and most complete back in the NFC and Tiki Barber isn't far behind. Portis's success in a power running game has surprised me and really gained my respect. Barber is getting old, but he's been fantastic the last few years. Both catch, block, and can make all the runs. They define the term "complete" back.

Of course, LT is the best I've seen since Emmitt and I won't know how great he is until he shows something more in the playoffs. Of all backs currently playing LT has the most potential for the HOF IMO with Curtis Martin close behind.

I think he stacks right at the top of the league. Him and Bledsoe have good chemistry going on right now and I hope it continues next week against them eagles.
