i don't have the details but some football fanatical friends here at work said glenns new contract gives him a $5mil bonus next year if he's still on the roster. we wouldn't keep keyshawn for a mere $1mil but we're gonna keep glenn for $5mil more?

load 'em up - it's superbowl or bust it would seem.

Just curious -- are you trying to say that Glenn isn't worth that money?

He's worth the money NOW, but in a year, he'll be a year older and a year slower.

35 year old WR's rarely make much of an impact.

The money would be better spent on a younger prospect.

Not worth a bonus of 5mil again next year. If he is, chances are we over-paid for TO!! lol

Unless Crayton really has a breakout year, I think letting Glenn go would be a big mistake. Just my opinion..

It hasn't been paid yet, so its still open to discussion/re-negotiation.

If Terry plays lights out again this year and stays healthy, he'll get the $5M and be worth it.

If not, all bets are off.

Jerry will not pay that kind of bonus. Terry will restructure or he will be cut.
I'm starting to think if Chad Jackson is sitting there at 18 then he will be a Cowboy. We have no depth and everyone of our receivers have questions over them coming into this season.

He is 31 right now - how is he going to be 35 next year?

Sounds like this is telegraphing an intent to draft Glenn's replacement on the first day either this year or next year. Am I reading too much into it?

I hope we dont take a wideout in the first as I dont believe any of these guys are the 18th best player in the draft.

Jackson is my least favorite of the receivers. He is big, strong and fast in shorts but while playing a football game hes not that impressive.

What don't you understand? He's a Cowboy and everyone knows they only sign OLD players. Playing for the Cowboys automatically adds at least 4 years to your age. :)

Finding Glenn's replacement would be the prudent thing to do. I doubt Glenn is around next year to collect his bonus money.

Keyshawn didn't want to play for his current contract, also the Boys knew that we would get T.O.. Glenn will still be hear next year.

Key is slow-Glenn has speed Glenn is more of an offensive weapon than Key and is 4 years younger so yeh pay Glenn not Key.

I wanted to keep Key but as a 3rd down WR at 4 mil a year no thanks. TO can make plays Key can make first downs. We have a pro bowl TE to run Key's routes we dont need 2 guys for 3rd down conversions.:)

People always get massively confused regarding ages and weights around here.

Per AdamJT2000bot

AdamJT said:
Glenn got a $2 million signing bonus. He has a $5 million roster bonus due next season (which could be guaranteed and prorated through renegotiation) and a $1 million roster bonus due in 2010.

The net effect on our cap this season is minimal, pending possible incentives (he did have incentives that might have been deleted). The only new charge is his $400,000 bonus proration. If his incentives have been deleted, his contract extension will cost us only $250,000 more against the cap.

Its not like that would be a $5 million dollar hit. If it was prorated for the max length allowable by the CBA (which I think is 5 years), its just another $1 million hit.

Assuming I understand that right (and AdamJT can correct me if I didn't), that isn't too hard to swallow.
