The Texans and Cowboys play Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. No one is punching or counterpunching.

Although he is new to the state, Texans coach Bill O'Brien recognizes there is a different feel to this game for owner Bob McNair and the fans.

"I know it means a lot," O'Brien said. "Start here in this organization. I know that this game means a lot to Mr. McNair and this Texans organization.

"I know it means a lot to the city, the city of Houston. Houston versus Dallas. Texas is such a great football state, and Houston and Dallas are fantastic football cities, and it means a lot to the fans of Houston for us to be able to go out there, play well and win the game."

It's unclear how much it means to fans in Dallas. They've always had a football superiority complex in regard to Houston - perhaps because the Cowboys have five Super Bowl championships, perhaps because they were in the NFL before Houston, perhaps because they're from Dallas and have a superiority complex in regard to everything.

But it does mean a lot to Jones. He told Dallas radio station KRLD-FM this week he has cried after only three losses. One was to the Texans in their inaugural game in Houston in 2002.

My dad use to live in Houston till he retired to the peace & quiet of Nowheresville Texas.

He use to tell me about the Houston-Dallas stuff.

I always thought it was silly. I guess you have to be a native son to get all that.

This means more to the Texans fans it seems, than to the Cowboys fans...kind of like the Eagles, it's like, whatever, we don't care what they think, let's just go win.

I'm currently staying in Houston, but no one really saying much yet about this game. Will see Friday when I head out and see what is said, as I will have my Cowboys ball cap on as usual.

I see a few rumblings here and there on FB, but for the most part, I let them make it. There's also no bigger Texans fan than one of my BFFs. We refrain from talking Texans-Cowboys to spare our friendship. She's too much of a casual fan and I'm too much of a hardcore fan. They don't mix. lol

I dont live in Texas so the dynamics of this relationship I dont relate to but is it true that Cowboy fans down there went and became Texan fans when they were brought into the league?

Houston has a HUGE Cowboy contingent. I'm not sure of the breakdown, but it is significant. When I used to live in Dallas and went to a lot of games, there were a ton of fans from Houston there that had season tickets...

They became Cowboy fans when the Oilers left to become Titans. Basically the Cowboys were the only game in town. When the NFL granted them another NFL, those fans became Texan fans. They were never true Cowboy fans. But like Trickblue said, there are tons of Cowboy fans here.

The Texans were in the NFL before the Cowboys. They just had such a piss poor record in Dallas at 1-11 in 1952, that they got run out of town by Dallas fans and replaced by the Cowboys franchise.

Perhaps it's not the Cowboys who have a "superiority complex", but it's the Texans that have an inferiority complex.

Then you have the Dallas Texans that were ran out of town by the Cowboys, and they went to KC to become the Chiefs.
And I think some still despise that...LOL

I grew up in Houston in the 60's to mid-70's as a COWBOYS fan, even when the Oilers were there.

You know I do like seeing the Texans do well IF not playing Dallas Cowboys. Still when Sunday rolls around I want Cowboys to kick shoot out of them.
