Texans vs. Lions

What the hell happened on that TD Houston got?? I thought all scoring plays were reviewed? How was that not overturned?

I understand the refs had no choice but to not review it but that is not only a bad call, I saw he was clearly down before the replay, but it is just a dumb rule

will not be surprised if it gets changed in the off season

Incredibly dumb, whats the logic in that rule?

Houston's defense is hot garbage, getting torn to pieces by Jacksonville and Detroit.

There is nothing logical about it. It is the longest penalty that can be accessed, and it is only for a mere technicality that has no effect on the game at all.

The way the rule is worded, a smart coach could negate a review that would hurt his team by throwing his challenge flag.

IF Garret threw the challenge flag on the Bryant TD/incompletion, in theory, the play would have become non-reviewable. Dallas wins.

Who cares about the 15 yards at that point.
I don't think it would have worked that way.

Simms said that the league source told him "You can't benefit from throwing the flag once you illegally throw it."

IOW, if Kubiak had thrown the challenge flag, the play would have been overturned.

Still a stupid rule anyway.

I don't care what anyone says, these refs aren't much better than the replacement refs. At least not in comparison to how much more they get paid.

That would have been genius if he had had the forethought to challenge the play in order to guarantee the TD

That's the intent of the rule but not the wording of the rule.

No game for me...at my moms house in Tennessee

"The replay official must initiate a review before the next legal snap or kick and cannot initiate a review of any ruling against a team that commits a foul that delays the next snap."

I think this is how the Lions got screwed. By throwing the red flag, Schwartz committed a foul that delayed the next snap. Since the ruling on the field was against the Lions, the replay official then could not initiate the review.

Ball gave up 100+ yds and a TD to Johnson in the first half

Yeah. I don't get where someone thinks Ball has played well. He is the textbook definition of hot garbage.
