Texas reportedly fires athletic director Steve Patterson after only 22 months

Texas reportedly fired athletic director Steve Patterson on Tuesday after a brutal 22 months at the helm, that included turmoil within the athletic department and yielded poor results on the football field and basketball court. Patterson had three years left on his five-year contract, for which he was to be paid a guaranteed $1.4 million per year.

I know they hired him to be the hatchet man for Brown but now I wonder if they wished they would have hired Oliver Luck. ...

#Texas paid a search firm $200k to find new AD. Search firm recommended then-WVU AD Oliver Luck. Hired Steve Patterson. Didn't work so well.

It's gettin' ugly at the Forty Acres, and will probably get uglier before things turn around.

Crazy, stupid stuff going on at Texas. Though I've heard that Patterson wasn't well liked, it seems to me Texas has a very impatient administration and an entitled fan base not willing to let a coach turn a program around.

But hey, I'm just an uninterested observer.

Probably should have never hired him in the first place. I think they really wanted Luck.

Mack Brown recruited soft players. Strong is the kind of coach who has no patience with soft. Bad combination.
