I heard someone say this on 105.3 The Fan this morning... Kirk Cousins is like the JR Smith of the NFL. He's really not that great of a player, doesn't have a ton of versatility, but when he's hot... he can be very good for short periods of time. We saw that for about 2 or 3 consecutive drives in this game. Every other drive, he looked like a 3rd string QB. He was missing a bunch of those deeps balls and of course that pick in the end zone was just awful.

He looks like a young QB, The int was from him staring down the receiver in the middle of the field and transitioning through multiple zones and he did not account for the safety watching. Bad play but not horrible, if anything if Cousins had a real coach he would be better. part of me believes that Gruden does not want Cousins.

The positive I got out of this is that they held up when needed, got a turnover (and a key one at that) and we've seen far more zone coverage this year than last year and that helps us get INT"s.

We really need a MIKE and 3-tech and a replacement for Carr.

So every NFL QB is expected to connect on 50 yard bombs against Dallas?

Well, ones that are wide open, yes. There were two or three deep balls Cousins overthrew where the receiver was WIDE open. He even under threw that bomb to Doctson and he had to come back to the ball which prevented it from being a TD.

This is a unique place with a bunch of unique posters.

Skids are ready to implode. So that's exciting.

But he is, so it wasn't.

Other teams have to execute, too. I'm not going to get down on the Cowboys when they fail and then give the Redsk*ns a pass when they do the same. All things being equal, we were the better team today.

And our best player is still on the bench.
Uhhh as president of the Tyron Smith fan club I have to disagree...

I can do without that particular like, then. Rome's on another level from Dak still. Though I'm not sure we'd be saying the same thing after next training camp if Dak were to get all 16 (+) starts. He's definitely on trajectory if he keeps it up.

This is a good thing to disagree about. I just see a player who is stronger, has a better arm, can run, is very poised, and is extremely smart. He looks like a vet out there to me. If you can look THIS good in your second NFL game, you are special. This kid is a freaking competitor.. a winner.

Of course Im happy for the win, but you gotta when you seen guys running downfield wide open you werent a bit concerned.

Yes very concerned. But Cousins missing those open receivers were not the sole reasons we won.

This just reminds me of a friend of mine, says we we would win, because it was from broken plays by the other teams D. But when we lost, the other teams broken plays weren't broken, they were well executed.

Can't wait for the "how did the Commanders lose to the lowly Cowboys?" narrative.

In fairness, Dak should get some really good press in the next couple of days because he had a hell of a game, and we're the damn Dallas Cowboys.

So I just witnessed Aaron Rodgers overthrow a wide open receiver. It happens all the time regardless of the defense. The odds of connecting on those are less than shorter passes. Even if uncontested.

Dak has been awsome for a rookie but common, LOL.
Like Parcells would have said, put the anointing oil away, he still hasn't thrown a TD pass in the NFL and he gives us a better chance than Tony? I know you are the ultimate anti Romo, but that is just not true.
How soon we forget his 3rd place MVP season in 2014.

Saying that, Dak could one of the best in the league in a couple of years. What a steal in the 4th round.

Say what you will about Romo but he isn't even playing because he is old and broken. Screwed us for the 2nd consecutive year, only this time we have Dak and boy is he legit. He gives this team the best chance to win at QB. Oh, and he has thrown td passes, his receivers just dropped them. He can keep running them in.. I don't care how we get them.

Cousins is a WCO QB who was well coached. WCO coaches like Gruden like him because he understands the offense and already has the footwork down. But, he's short on pure talent and FO.com had him something like 30th in performance when under pressure. He just doesn't make those semi-difficult throws or at least with any consistency. I think Gruden is really good at designing plays. So last year when teams didn't have a book on what Gruden wanted to do with Cousins along with having Jackson, Garcon and a healthy Reed, he was able to design plays to get guys well open. It's a lot easier said than done when it comes to finding a QB that can play in that system because you have to have the footwork and know where to go with the ball for those guys to get wide open.

As Bill Walsh said about Steve DeBerg...he's good enough to get you beat.

He was all over the place today and missed two simple touchdowns.

at the same time this defense buckled down in the 4th qtr and saved the game, they deserve credit. This game was very much like 2014. This is the blue print to win. Survive on defense early, run the ball, the qb must be outstanding on 3rd downs, make them kick fg's and get a clutch turnover.

Prescott came through on the third downs today and the defense came through with the big turnover.

Of course it happens to everyone. I'm just saying that Cousins pretty much lost the game for the Skins by doing it multiple times today.

Dak is still young. Romo is elite when he's on the field.
Romo has NEVER been elite. Especially in win and in /playoff games. 2nd straight year he has gotten hurt and screwed the team. Time to move on. Dak will make that easier for you.

I think we're ok at 3 tech.

Mike.... Durant needs to play more and we need to sign another vet if available.

Hitchens is awful and our safeties look confused too often.

That's a stretch. How many games did he play last year? Against the Dolphins, Panthers and Giants he threw for a combined 7 interceptions. Not elite. He's very good but he's also unreliable physically, not mobile and doesn't always make the greatest decisions.

I think come week 7 or whenever Romo comes back he should sit until Dak proves he shouldn't be the starter anymore. Flame away, I'm ready :)

No reason for you to be flamed. You are spot on.

Statistically, Tony Romo is third all time in career quarterback rating. He was elite in 2014. His QB rating was insane. Don't go saying he's never been elite, he got beat by the best quarterback in football and the best defensive player since Reggie White in the 2014 MVP race.
