You won't get a lot of responses to this one! I am right there with you...but I've been saying it for a while -- Jerry ain't running this team.

I hope you're right. I want to see what McClay can do today and tomorrow before I believe Jerry is finally listening to other people. There is still a lot of necessary talent to be acquired.

I admit, I was nervous as he dropped. This should tell us Jerry really does not run the show. If he did, then he would have drafted him,. Whew...glad he is in Cleveland.

I was not nervous but I was hoping that the Cowboys would take Martin only to prove that they were still in it for the present and not the future. Drafting JF would have been a future move and a Jerry-type flashy pick. Martin was the best player on the board so that could be credited to McClay for now. Let's see what McClay can do today and tomorrow, though, before deciding who is actually in charge of this draft.

All true....my gosh I was on pins and needles. What a relief.

I wanted Johnny but still he ended up in a good situation, Cleveland has a legitimate elite defense, offensive line, and receiving targets.

Nothing made me happier than seeing Johnny, a rich oil kid from TX, go to the AFC North.

You could tell he wasn't very pleased with that.

Hope you packed a jacket, Johnny!

The Cowboys were also one of the only teams who's pick didn't leak early.

No matter what he does people will never give Jerry any praise. He gets all the blame and the only people to get credit for good moves over the last 25 years are Jimmy Johson, Bill Parcells, and now McClay.

Jerry said they spent 8-9 minutes listening to offers from other teams for their pick, then decided to pull the trigger on Martin, so it was literally a last minute pick.

The one thing I can't stand is when the pick is bad then it was Jerry who had all the control but when it's a safe, smart pick it was McClay. Give the man a tiny bit of credit lol

Very true. Ataboy, Jerry!

I'm not one to give Jerry undue credit, nor would I be one to take due credit away when it's deserved. He's listening to guys like Will McClay and Garrett now. That's a whole lot better than exercising his "last word" option like we've seen happening in the past.

We weren't the only team to pass on him, right? Just want to make sure.

Not only that, but everyone in the draft thought Mo was going to be the best available - it's not like Dallas just whiffed on a pick and everyone else was snickering about it. It's easy to roll your eyes in hindsight but sometimes guys just don't translate to the NFL despite expectations. And Mo's not done yet, he still has time.

They weren't on the phone that much during their clock time, so either someone off-camera was fielding trade offers, or as I suspect, the team has gone to text/email for communication in order to be able to field a bunch of stuff at the same time.
