FWIW-Billy has been our clutch kicker for awhile here. Lest we forget that he made several for us-including that Mon Night game against the Giants a couple of years back where he hit 7 of them(including the game tying 55 yarder in poor conditions). Frankly-I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt-it was only 1 bad game.

However-the ones Cortez missed against Wash and Seattle WERE chip shots-no excuse. If Billy had been healthy, he would have made those with no problems.

Yes-I also posted in another thread that forget Drew's recent bad play, forget Parcells' bone-headed conservative game-planning, forget our piss-poor play on the OL-we make those kicks-we would be sitting pretty at 10-2.

If Cortez, instead of Vineterri, played for the Pats-they wouldn't have won those Super Bowls, and Tom Brady would just be a figment of our imagination.

We would be 10-2 or at least 9-3 right now if we would have had a consistent FG kicker all season. 3 makeable FGs missed from 41, 21, & 34 yards cost us the games vs the Commanders, Seahawks, and Broncos.

FWIW-Jay Feely is the same guy who choked away 3 or so games for the Falcons in 02-otherwise, Atlanta would have had the best record in the NFC then.

Actually, those are intellect issues.

Now, how about enjoying the run we're about to get on? I don't care where the 3 next wins come from, but as long as we get them, I'm satisfied. Well, as long as one of them's in Washington, I'll be satisfied.

Next year, we can work on building a team that doesn't rely on its kicker to win games so often. A few more 3rd-and-shorts, and we'll be be there. Maybe we can get that fixed for the playoffs.
