That just happened

That, and a couple of SERIOUSLY bad penalties were the difference.

Dak is a great guy, and a natural leader. Humble, hardworking, big, strong, a good runner, BUT he can’t carry a team. At least not yet. So when the OL is makeshift, the slightly overrated RB underperforms, and the playcalling and adjustments are average at best, true playoff caliber teams will be our Kryptonite, ESPECIALLY when the refs are doing us no favors.

They did us no favors for sure. Missing both tackles and the replacements are going against 2 very good de. Dak needs to take what defenses are giving him. His second pick was not needed. That play looked like it was designed to be thrown to Elliot in the flat. He was there and open and Dak went with someone that was pretty much double covered. If he takes the flats then Elliot maybe still running.

Slightly over-rated? That long catch down the sideline was the first play he made all season that I would expect a top RB in the NFL to make.

We are missing our best interior lineman against the run (Woods) who also was hurt in that Rams game. I know he was in there against Barkley, but I don't believe we were getting gouged up the middle like we did in this game.
Teams will continue to gash us. Marinelli has to make a adjustment. He waited to bring pressure against rogers until it was over. Same thing as the last playoff game against them..

Our biggest need last offseason was to get a run stuffing 1 tech. We failed to address it and it will continue to bite us in the butt. As bad as we played yesterday we still had a chance at the end.
No it wasn't and it still isn't.

The LBers are so horrible against the run you could have Warren Sapp and Aaron Donald in there and it would not matter.

Was a sweet play. That last int was some of the worst PI that I have seen. And the refs didn’t see that was unreal to me. Even if we get the call it was to late. But the refs need to clean this up.

One of the biggest disappointments so far for me. LBs played so well last year and this year Lee is in there with him and staying healthy..

Second week straight with a loss. Our Defense looked weak up the middle. We play the first 3 teams and did what we were supposed to do to lesser teams.

I was wondering if last week was more of a fluke or not. It’s looking like this maybe the norm. Our Defense shows flashes yesterday but not very good, especially against the run. Something is broke, we were good last year against the run other than the rams game. Mostly the same players.

Yesterday’s game was unreal. I expected the opposite after the saints game.. Came out and got a stop and took the ball and was moving it. Elliot has some surge and WR was getting open. The Cooper with a drop gave them the ball. After that it just went down hill.

Dak got down and tried to do to much. He threw 3 picks. The second one was just ugly, he had Elliot in the flat open and it’s where the ball needed to go. The last pick, Gallup was absolutely mugged and no flag thrown. I saw a few bad calls or non calls.

We get the jets this week, if we can’t stop the run then I expect a close one honestly.

What do you all think is happening. Are we not as good as we thought, poor coaching, to confident. Play calling. Had to wait till this morning to post because I was fuming last night. Lol.
The first thing we should ask ourselves is why did we think the team was that good? Some refused to look objectively at those first 3 wins. Those 3 teams are part of the have nots, we weren't going to see anything until they played games 4, 5 and 7.

There are two major problems with this team. No team can have quality depth on the OL with 4 OL in the top 6 paid at their position. They have to stay healthy. The second problem is related to the first, there is no next man up. This team is the most vulnerable contender to just one injury, get multiple injuries and they can't overcome it.

The lack of depth is a two pronged issue, the lack of talent and the lack of coaching to overcome losing starters and how long have we seen this? But the fault is not with the coaches, they didn't hire themselves. Primary job of the owner is to hire the GM and the primary job of the GM is to hire the HC and the primary job of the HC is to hire the coaching staff.

And while all of this is going on, the Will McClay Fan Club meets here daily and he's absolved of any complicity in this. And some act like they've really done something assembling this OL. 4 1st rounders is doing something? The easiest hit in the draft on day one is the OL.

They had the same problems last year.

Their run fits are terrible - Jaylon especially.

Will McClay is vastly over-rated. So much empty talent on this roster. I'm looking at you Byron Jones, Chidobe Awuzie and Connor Williams.

I had high expectations for this team but they have been dashed. We need a bye to have a realistic chance at a Super Bowl run. That means no more than 4 losses, and that’s almost impossible at this point.

Not sure it matter too much though. New England is so superior that everybody else is essentially playing for 2nd place.

Yeah, that’s my opinion. For what he gets paid, he has far too many games rushing 40-60 yards.

A good DT keeps the OLine off of the LB's. It's no coincidence that when Woods got hurt vs the Rams last year they starting gashing us for long runs.

This is not the problem in Dallas. Covington ate enough doubles and Collins was in the backfield all night. The LBs are painfully slow to get to gaps.

Here's an example, but just look at this entire thread.

The LBs have been TERRIBLE. Same problem as LAR. It has nothing to do with 2nd-level blocks.

:hammer:

In no order:
1. The NFL is tough, fine line between winners and losers. When you are not prepared and can't adapt you will lose.
2. The culture is destroyed here. 3 wins against bad teams and these guys are so over-confident. It is a country club. Can't win in the NFL with that.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

I’m not convinced that the gap is as wide as many think. While they have the edge at the HC/QB combo over everyone else, they also get 5 or 6 guaranteed wins every year, and preferential treatment from both the refs and league offices.

All we need to do is get a true huge NT to protect our linebackers. Make our linebackers protect our safeties. Right now most of the game the safeties are making most of the tackles. I'm sitting at home on the couch on Sundays and know this. Why the crap don't they????

We are a good team but every team in the NFL is going to have games like this were things go wrong and it snowballs into an avalanche.

I don't think Dak has ever thrown three picks in one game in his life. Its happens but in this case one his Cooper in the hands and bounced straight to a DBs hands. That happens once every couple of years.

On the Gallup pick, Gallup quit on the route because its called PI 99 times out of 100.

That’s what turnovers do to you. Especially when your defense never forces any.
Someday we'll get turnovers and find out if that's true.

Besides being weak against the run and pass, this defense has not been a turnover making machine since Jimmy was here.....
