at least for a while now. We have spent a lot of High draft choices on our Front 7.

Ware - Ist Round Pick
Spencer - 1st Round Pick
Spears - 1st Round Pick
Ellis - 1st Round Pick
Carpenter - 1st Round Pick
Burnett - 2nd Round Pick
Hatcher - 3rd Round Pick
Canty - 4th Round Pick
James - 4th Round Pick

It is time for this group to SHOW UP BIG TIME! Wade needs to have this group dominating for the next 5 or 6 years. A lot of resources put here.

Going into next year with 2 1st round picks it is time to go RB, WR, CB. All the skill positions. If Romo continues to impress it will be huge. Hopefully this O-line is now set for a while, the money, developmental projects and draft picks says it should be. We better hope so.

Great angle on this! It is curious that we have drafted them all. No high profile trades (they are in the secondary). A true test of our draft abilities.

heh - just funny cause till parcells go here, we had no real use for LB's other than we needed some around from time to time to play in the middle. now we can't live w/o 'em and bp loved to collect 'em. now wade starts off with one - but at least he wasn't related to him or had some "past history" with his family. well, that i know of.

Seems you just cannot get over the Parcells gig, huh?

Has it occured to you that the reason he "collected linebackers" is because he changed the scheme to a 3/4 where linebackers are needed? That's what makes the 3/4 work...

Maybe that is why "we had no real use for LB's other than we needed some around from time to time to play in the middle".

heh, no. not really, i suppose. but sometimes it's just fun to tweak the nose of the ever-present never-run parcells defense team. they wanna act like parcells is some deity and that just gets old to me.

as for needing so many LB's - so many that we convert them to LB's just to have them around. : )

truth be told, he's gone and it shouldn't matter anymore but we'll dredge it up over and over and over again. he did some really good things for this team and like everyone, made his mistakes too. i ate crow on romo willingly and i'll give parcells props for what he did do right here.

but for general banter, when the "I HEART PARCELS" crowd gears it up for a run, you gotta have a counter balance, and cest moi, here i am. : )

I liked Parcells here his first couple of years for the mere fact the he helped change (hopefull) Jerra's ways...

He did alot of good things, but, I absoutely hated his game management of trying to keep it close and win at the end football!

But, you have to admit, he has changed the face of the franchise. I could just imagine what Jerry would have done had he not hired Parcells...it makes me shudder!

Honestly, you brought Parcells into the thread, not the other way around. Your original point about until he got here, LBers were of no use to Jerry and co, was correct. The rest was just another shot in the arse to BP on the way out. Especially since it wasn't like he knew Ware or Burnett when they were drafted.

I wouldn't claim to be a Parcells shill, but while you think it gets old to read stuff from the "I Heart Parcells" crowd, it gets old to read stuff from the "I HATE Parcells" crowd. They're both annoying.

hey - i never said i wasn't annoying. if everyone left that was annoying at times, there'd not be too many people here.

Well, that just leaves you and I...I guess!

Shroom time, baby!

;)

Now get off the Parcells thing...he left the Boyz in better shape then anyone else before him after Jimma Johnson....

I think your hatred for Parcells stems back from when he would not play a rookie QB a game or two when the season was already lost...that is when you started going ballistic on him. Well, look at Romo...I think he knew what he was doing, how about you?

If nothing else, you should be GLAD he was a coach for the Cowboys! Would you rather have had Gibbs here?

Maybe it was the problem of Mr. Zimmer, not the players? Guess we will find out this year. If we still can't get pressure, then I'll exculpate Zimmer. If we do get pressure, it looks like the GROZ crew was right all along.

Some "Cowboys fan" you are-- always with the most negative take possible...

What's sourly amusing about THIS take is you don't have the first clue what kind of pressure we'll be able to get on the QB this year... you don't know how Spencer will impact that pass rush, and you don't know how our incumbents at LB and DL will respond to the new, more aggressive system being implemented by our new head coach...

But you're in too big a hurry to be the first on your block to give up on the Cowboys to consider such things, aren't you??

In 2008, the starting front 7 could be:

DL: Spears, Stanley/Ola/Draft Pick, Canty

LB: Spencer, James, Burnett, Ware

That's about an average of age of 2.5 years in the NFL.

We've got a young group. And presuming they all perform, we can most likely "set it and forget it" for the next 5+ years.

Dont forget

1st Newman
1st Williams

That is 7 1st round picks on the Defense. We better have a top ranked D

well when the debates fire up, we'll all have our sides. when people tell me "do you know how many rings he has???" as if that makes him infallible and beyond critisizm, guess what i'll do?

then again- if anyone is setup for such "perfection" then yes, i'll argue the flip side by nature. people wanna tweak my nose, i've got no problem returning the favor.

I can see us going front seven again next year by drafting DT Glenn Dorsey with one of our first round picks.

I'm going to go out on the smallest of limbs here, but......I think when we start looking at other teams and positions other than the front seven, we'll probably find that a lot of starters in the NFL are 1st or 2nd round picks.
