In 7 weeks. The last meaningful game was against the Packers on Nov 29(or close to it) and the next one was on Jan 13. Thats about 45 days, roughly the length of the preseason. Our schedule was front loaded and we peaked to early. This team cant turn it on and off whenever they feel like it. Look at the schedule since then

Lousy Detriot team who finished like 5-11
Lousy Philly team who were 5-8 when they rolled in and beat us
Lousy Carolina team with a QB we cut in training camp and a guy thats almost 50
Meaningless Commander game

Put yourself in their shoes can you get up for those games after being 12-1 and beating every top team in the NFC? What else can you prove till playoffs.

I know theres many factors that went into the loss but I feel as if this should be thrown into the equation with the other things. I know a good team doesnt take a team lightly but as you know we have some players who can take a game off here and there. Spears, cough!!! Crayton Cough!!!! etc..... This was the start of the demise and instead of barley winning or losing, we should have blown every team out with the exception of the last team. Thats the mark of a good team and that should of been a tell tell sign. Look at the Patriots. Look at SD whose on a 8 game winning streak. Look at the Bucs. They tanked the final 3 games as well. Look how they finished. Same with Pittsburgh. They finished I think 1-3 in their final 4 games. I think this is more important then people give it credit for. Opinions?

Go look at the thread where i posted Tony Romo's numbers in his last 4 games from this year and last year. There is a huge decline from his previous 12 games. He simply slacks off at the end every year. I guess he believes he can nail it in early and jump start for the playoffs.

So you're only supposed to be inspired to play the best? I think there are a lot of problems if this is the case.

You can't get up to play Detriot (who was a winning team at that point), and two bitter division rivals?

When I was in Iraq, there was a lot of down (meaningless) time and we somehow got motivated when the bullets/rockets/mortars started flying. Like I said, if they can't get inspired to play each of their 16 games a year, you've got serious problems.

Again, is that what the Cowboys are now? A team who only plays when they want to? If so, I would start really calling for some people's heads, starting with Wade.

This isn't a reoccurring thing under wade. This happened under Parcells also, Romo played poorly his last 4 games under the fat-man also but the defense was even worse and pple blamed the defense and let romo off the hook that year. Now if you were to look at romos drop off this year his last 4 games you cant have an excuse for the defense giving up to many points bc it was the exact opposite the offense wasn't able to get it done so it all goes back to the qb and supposed leader of this team. Again this has happened to the offense under two different coordinators soprano and garret so you can't blame them if you're qb's numbers are dropping in the latter part of the season.

The other thing is that WE DID have things to play for after GB...#1 seed in division and HFA throughout the playoffs. We won just enough games to get there, but GB losing to Chicago is why we made it.

This team frustrates me much more than last years, especially when I watch highlights of how we dominated the LOS in the first half and then our D forgets how to *** tackle and how to cover short routes from WRs.

The Cowboys didn't have a meaningful game after playing Green Bay is one of more spurious arguments made on this board.

We battled Green Bay for the #1 Seed up until the 2nd to last week of the Season.

You won't have to worry next year, I think we will have to battle to week sixteen just to make the playoffs.

Yes, I am a pessimist.

Pessimism:

1. A tendency to stress the negative or unfavorable or to take the gloomiest possible view.
2. The doctrine or belief that this is the worst of all possible worlds and that all things ultimately tend toward evil.
3. The doctrine or belief that the evil in the world outweighs the good.

That's what makes what NE has been doing all the more impressive. They were like any other team in the NFL at the start of the season...their goal was to get to the super bowl and win. As the streak carried on, they developed a secondary goal. Goals are goals...the trick is staying focused all the way through 16 games to reach your goals...they did; we didn't.

One thing you have to take into consideration is these are rich, spoiled athletes. If they can take it easy whats going to stop them? If the player gets cut, theyre still rich and will get picked up by another team. I would put it moreso as the team might had come into the game at ease more than on pins and needles like the previous weeks.

Every team is filled with rich spoiled athletes, but some teams seem to be able to play hard every week. Plenty of Giants make a lot of money.

If all that is true then it boils down to discipline and leadership. Where is Bob Lilly? Maybe everybody is really mad at RW because he's not that guy...

And that's exactly the the Steelers and Colts did the last 2 years, after being bounced out early despite being the #1 seeds the year prior.
