in some circles...

That's my opinion anyway.

I'm pretty darn surprised at all the Super Bowl talk we are generating
amongst writers.

Guess I'm still operating in the 20th century mentality that says teams don't usually come out of nowhere (read as missed the playoffs the previous year) to go to much less win a SB. I know its a new day, and been done very recently. But still...

And I suppose that someone needs to be picked, and yeah we're maybe as good a choice as any, but I still think the less risky favorites are the Panthers & Seahawks.

Yes our D was much improved in 05 vs 04. Yes, I think it could progress to great this year. And I'm hopeful of that. But its on paper.

Yeah, TO is obviously a talented addition. And we've tried to right the O-line but have no great confidence, much less proof, that the 06 version will hold-up. Same story at kicker where we spent a lot of bucks but are worried week 1 it might cost us that game.

Anyway, I'm hopeful. I really am. But this isn't 1992 when we followed up a late 01 surge with the same head of steam in 92 and finally got someone to pick us to make the SB (Bradshaw), but not until we were in the NFC Title game.

Not trying to stir controversy. Just calling it like I see it. We've got a lot to prove. I suppose most others do as well. So, yeah, it could be our year.

Panthers & Seahawks

That's just the thing. Dallas played both of these teams tough on the road last year. They beat Carolina and should've beat Seattle. This is not the '70s, '80s or '90s where the top teams are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams. There's a fine line between making the playoffs and not making it, and anything can happen after you make it. I mean, look at the Steelers. They are not world beaters, but they are world champions. Nowadays, it can be done with a lot less. Yeah, it's possible. In fact, we've got a pretty good team, which is all you need in today's NFL.

I sense a little overhyping myself. Not that I am complaining. At least there is something there to be hyped.

You people obviously don't live in the Dallas area and hear the Dallas sportsradio guys (and girl) daily.

Today the sportsradio people did their predictions and I don't think I heard one person predict the cowboys would do better than 10-6... in fact, almost every one of them had the Cowboys going 9-7 or worse.

SO, as far as the media goes here in Dallas... I think they are underestimated.

Hmmmm...maybe some of the people that are hyping them know something finally.

Peter King.....is he not a good friend of BP? I'm wondering what BP has been telling him that is getting King to say some of the things that he is.

BP just might be telling King that he is truly excited about this team and that this defense could be the best that he has ever had. Who knows?

Seems to me that those who are so quick to point out the O-Line problems last year don't give the O-Line some credit when they had a top 5 offense before Flozell Adams went down and Julius Jones got hurt. Seems like there are 2 sides to that pancake.

From what I see most people don't think that Dallas will improve over last year. Most believe that T O will blow up the team, or our oline has somehow gotten worse since last year. We have played very vanilla in the preseason. Only a couple of blitzes a game, straight forward football. This will be the first game we have really game planned for. Still we came out of the Preseason 3-0-1. We are better than we were a year ago on the offensive line. We are better with flozell in there and are better prepared to handle things when he is out. They are not a finished product by any means, but overall, better.
We where absolutely horrible at OT without Flozell last year & missed the playoffs by a game. The Dallas Cowboys is for real, & like it or not Terrell Owens is going to be nothing short of dynamic in Dallas. Prossman

They should have said we were a playoff team and left it at that. Why people went straight to Super Bowl is beyond me.

Estridge predicted 8-8 on GaC today although he's a noted BP hater.

And I think some people forget how explosive TO can make this offense. Not that he necessarily will, but if he gets 70 catches and 12 TDs, and the o-line is better...not even dominant, just slightly above average..then there is plenty enough talent on this team to go to the Superbowl...it will all come down to how far BP, TO, and Bledsoe can take them. All three of those guys will have to make the right choices in big moments.

You can easily make the case rthe Cowboys are worse than the 9-7 team of last season...
They gave up 55 sacks last season WITH All World Larry Allen...this season - we have two Detroit castoffs and a 7th rd pick comepeting for the job and a washed up stiff in Fabini at RT ....

Drew Bledsoe & Glenn are a year older...and TO is a headcase....

I have at us a 8-8 this season with Tony Romo taking over in week 7

Um, Larry Allen was All World eleven years ago. You lost whatever credibility you had with that statement.

Is that the week you're projecting when Bledsoe's going to get hurt--because that's the only way Romo's going to start over him.

Waitasec...

Wait...

Wait...

Nope. Bledsoe doesn't have to worry about Mo Lewis trying to kill him this season. He's retired.

If Bledsoe refrains from driving on I-635 before 5 am, he'll still accumulate a lot of sacks, but he should be just fine.
