ON PAPER, this is the Eagles division to lose - but the games aren't played on paper.

As for Sunday's games

Jaguars @ Eagles - If the Eagles want to be playoff contenders, they MUST win this game.
Giants @ Lions - Is the Giants offense as bad as the "experts" say that it is. Both teams finished at 7-9 last year.
Commanders @ Texans - Both teams were hideous last year. Which of them has shown the most improvement? Is RGIII back to his rookie form?
49'ers @ Cowboys - If the Cowboys defense is as bad as the "experts" claim that it is, then San Fran should win fairly easily.

I'd give the edge to the Eagles, but they're a team with significant flaws, too. I'm. not sure why so many PHI fans are so confident this season (not necessarily aimed at you, OP)

Because they are eternal optimists, have to be.

Not sure why Eagles fan think they are so much better "on paper". They have a crappy defense and a decent offense. Foles needs to prove he is not a one year wonder. I think they are legit at RB and TE. OL is suspect. WR's are decent but not great.

I guess that the Cowboys are going to beat the Niners. We'll see if they have the defense to do that.
The Eagles have one of the best offenses in the division, if not the league.
They have one of the best O-lines in the league.
Their run defense MIGHT be better - but we'll see.

The Eagles (27.6 ppg) offense was not much better than the Cowboys (27.4 ppg) last year. The WRs are average. TEs and RBs are legit. Foles is suspect until he proves he is not a 1 year wonder. He is not as good as Romo. IMO "on paper" the Cowboys offense is better at every skill position other than RB. QB, WR, TE, OL are better than the Eagles.

I guess we will find out in the next few weeks.
Then the question remains, which defense is better?

I don't know who is saying that the Eagles will be in the Super Bowl because no one that I know of in Philly is saying that.

What county are you from? I'm in Lehigh County.

Niners are not winning this game easily. In fact, I think Dallas wins. They have issues of their own, especially all their suspensions and injuries. We should be able to move the ball on their defense as well. I'd rather face SF early when they are rusty. They started off slow last year and rounded into form later.

Eagles should mop the floor with the Jags.

Lions should beat the Giants.

Skins should beat the Texans. I trust RG3 more than whomever the Texans roll out at QB.

You are missing my point. I only referring to your thoughts of the Eagles being best of the NFCE "on paper". I would guess they split with the Cowboys this year.

That offense runs as long as McCoy stays healthy.

The Eagles were very lucky last year on the injury front. I still don't know how McCoy lasted all season with all those touches. I thought he had bad knees, and that's why Reid never used him a lot.

Maclin is fast, but he needs to prove that he has hands better than T.O. In traffic, he has the whoopsies.

Foles was figured out, thanks to us. Pressure up the middle is his handicap. Check out what the Bears did to him in week 1. Constant pressure up the middle, which resulted in two punts and two picks.

They'll be a pesky 9-7, which I'm afraid will probably win the division.

I think NYG get blown out this week.
WAS loses a close one in HOU.

Dallas upsets 49ers.
Philly wins a closer than expected vs an improved Jax team.

Szczepanik - This is NOT a smart aleck question.
How is Jacksonville improved? I haven't gotten that from Jags fans on other sites.

Before OTAs and Preseason, I thought the Skins were the top team to beat. Sure, the Eagles have a better o-line. Overall, the Skins are just a better team; they have more weapons and added more parts to the defense. Their secondary might still be hideous, but they took another route and tried to upgrade the front 7. I thought their biggest limiting factor was their o-line, but after seeing how much RG3 regressed, I was wrong. QB is their biggest limiting factor now. Much like Kaepernick in San Fran.

You should see how PO'd Skins fans are about their QB situation.I can see RG3 being on a short leash and getting yanked for Cousins if he doesn't perform in the first few games.

Jags are nothing to write about. They still have Alan Ball starting at corner. That says enough for me.
