yeah, this roster really sux doesnt it?

looks like an 0-16 season to me, thanks to Jones

Yeh, I can count the playoff wins in the last 13 years on zero fingers. Guess what, one constant in all that time, the GM. You can have 9-7 mediocrity, do something in the playoffs.

I'm sure the extra $$$ had something to do with it, but come on. Even during the early to mid 90's when things were great you had players and coaches BEGGING people to show up and make real noise, get into the game more etc etc. I've been to too many games where Texas Stadium was like a damn library, even when we were kicking the crap out of someone.

I do think Jones is wanting his new stadium to be a louder, more football crazed atmosphere than Texas Stadium was. Getting more people in there, especially the kind of people these $29 seats will appeal to (younger, more engergetic people who will be standing) will help make that happen.

If 80,000 people isn't a sufficient number for crowd noise, then an extra 20,000 stragglers shouldn't make an appreciable difference. And if Dallas fans are notoriously passive, why wouldn't that include the Party Pass crowd? Look, if Jerry got up and said "I'm gonna pack this place to the gills and violate every fire code in the county because I'm up to my eyeballs in debt and need every last cent," I'd say "more power to him." Instead, we get the typical PR ********. I don't begrudge him making a buck, and more often than not pouring it back into the team, but let's stop pretending that he's a misty-eyed humanitarian who's looking out for the blue-collar guy. Being a Dallas fan doesn't mean ridding yourself of reason or common sense.

Wait, what? 25% more people shouldn't make an appreciable difference?

My guess is they'd make a 25% difference. I think the "reason" for the party pass (not that they're actually using this as a reason) is complete crap, but let's not be silly.

I never claimed he was doing it out of the goodness of his heart, but I dont think $$$ was the SOLE reason either.

Texas Stadium held I believe 65,000. Here we may be talking about 110,000.

Well, he can always let them in for free and prove me wrong.

why would he need to do that? 29 bucks is a bargain price for NFL tix now, and they wont be in bad positions to watch the game either

To prove that this is about crowd noise and winning, not money. Without outright saying it, Jerry is clearly counting on the Party Pass crowd to be rowdier, noisier, and more obnoxious than the season-ticket holders. A good bet, too, but don't lie to our faces.

I guess its kinda like when the Spurs used to sell the upperdeck of the Alamodome for $5 a ticket just to get 35,000 in for major games

I am sure the Party Pass price will go up to like 50 for playoff games.

bbgun, you sound scared or something.

No NFL owner is gonna let people in for free. There would be 100,000 people trying to get in. I'm pretty sure there's a max capacity allowed by the Fire Marshalls. Make your guap Jerry.

This sounds like a great idea to let financially strapped fans get to see a game live.

I'll wait and see how this works before I go. I'm not sure I want to take my seven year old son (he's begging to go to a Cowboy game) if it's going to be a drunken party.....I want to be able to watch a game with him.

Probably just ought to save and buy a real ticket.

Keep in mind that beer is still ridiculously expensive at these games. It's only gonna be called a "party" section because it sounds fun. I doubt there will be too many rowdy fans. Just people looking to have fun for cheap. I'm sure a lot of those people are more fun to watch the game with anyway. You hear a lot about these new pricey stadiums driving the "true fans" completely away due to higher costs. Obviously lots of people can be true fans and still afford high ticket prices, but now this standing room section makes it available to a much wider audience.

I hope it can bring some loud fans in that give us a legit homefield advantage.

I agree. I really hope they're not planning on allowing thousands more people into club seating area.

I think they will only be able to enter from the endzone areas. And not be allowed to the club seating area. I think the gate entrances and seating is designed not to allow people to move to any section or area they please.

i am always amazed at how many 6$ beers people buy at the games...they do get rowdy.

This is a really good move by JJ. It allows more people to go to games, it's unique to the NFL, and it provides an additional revenue stream. These are all good things.

An extra 20,000 people near the endzone.... A person yells at you from the upper deck vs yelling at you from the endzone hmmm. I think it will make a difference.
It would be nice if the visiting team dreaded playing in our stadium.

Jerry has said he based this idea off the pavillion at the Byron Nelson. He said he was always amazed at how everyone would pay all this money to go to a golf tournament and then there'd be 500 people on the course and 5000 people in the pavillion pounding down margaritas and having a huge party and not a single one of them even knew there were people playing golf 50 feet away.

He wanted a section like that that was nothing but fun. This is NOT designed for hardcore fans. This is for people who go to games as a social event. Unless you get there right when the gates open and claim your spot and don't move for 7 hours (4 hours before the game and 3 hours during the game), you'll be in no position to see live action. There will, however, be tons of tv's but I doubt many people will even pay attention to those. This is going to be a wild, drunken party and will be a definite place to be for all the Dallas 20-30 somethings.
