The 4th down play on Bland

We need to disguise blitzes..bring corner blitzes. Delayed blitzes... SOMETHING! We have nothing to lose doing so. Why coach afraid?

It's not hard for everyone to see... He covered a lot of issues and problems this defense had

I agree completely the design was for the LB to be underneath. And I’m not absolving Murray. Just questioning why he stuttered after the snap. If the design is to be the underneath for Bland, why not take off at the snap? The only possible reason is ieither he was supposed to delay to force the ball to the other side, or had dual responsibility for the slant to either side. Either way, it’s a bad scheme with that player with that responsibility.

In a do or die play of the game, the coaching decision to put Murray in this position is baffling at best. The guy hasn't made a play on the ball all year, but we're expecting him to do it with the game on the line?
 
I don’t mind the cushion. His feet are at the line to gain for a first down, so he can break forward. The CB has to play inside or outside leverage. Why is the entire middle of the field empty with the LBs stepping up to the line and no safety in sight?
I’m guessing this is a choice route to slant or go out. Bland is in position to see everything and not get lost in a pick play. But if there is anyone at all in the middle off the ball, the receiver would assume he’s going to head hunt on a quick slant and go outside where Bland is playing leverage. I’ve never seen anything look like this in the middle. Maybe the run defense was so bad that the LBs all walked up to the line because they suck at reading and reacting.

He was three yards behind the line to gain and even backed up a little at the snap. A linebacker should have not been disguised on the line though.
 
Schotty got too careful with the playcalling. Sometimes you gotta grab your nuts and take chances.

I get that’s the “excuse” people are going with today but it’s just that a excuse.

My point is it’s stupid to rely on Murray who stinks in coverage. Every corner was pressing except 10 yards off.

I don’t know how you guys can justify stupidity. They will blame Murray when he’s shown you what he is. Oh now in a crucial moment he’s gonna magically shown you his coverage skills.
 
This is like when Lamar cooked soft diggs for a game winner. Who actually expects either of these corners to get a walkoff pbu? Only chance they'd have is vs a trash qb and bland couldn't even do it against Bryce Young who sucks. Imagine what will happen when we play the chiefs. Just bet your whole savings on that game. In the 4th quarter Mahomes will get everything he wants targeting 7 and 26. Mark my words.

Mahomes won't have to bother. He can just hand it off to Pacheco or whatever RB they have and watch him get seven yards before even being touched.

That too. But knowing this team it'll be their super bowl and they'll go into the 4th tied 17-17 and the choking will start.

It was mind boggling, even if he let him beat for a TD thats better than giving up that completion. You absolutely cant give 5 yards plus
 
Maybe we should have just resigned Jourdan Lewis. He was a beast in the slot which is the hardest for a CB to play.

Jourdan Lewis is balling for the Jags (who run heavy zone as well) and we know he played like a DAWG. We don't have enough dawgs on defense.

JLew signed a 3 year 30 million dollar contract vs the 4 year 92 million dollar contract we gave bland.
