The $60 Million Dollar Man Can't Fix the Defense from Getting Dog Walked

Jerry pushed his chips all in on Dak in hopes that he can throw this team into the playoffs. Its not feasible. Dak can't do it week in week out. This defense is the reason why this team is getting dog walked around the field weekly.

If Dak can't lead this offense to 35 points, Dallas can't win.

That's funny. The guy pulling him looks like Dak.

That he cannot. He can, however, try to fix how well he plays against top 10 defenses.

With the exception of Green Bay, every team we played before yesterday is in the bottom half of the NFL in team defense, hence why he has looked so good.

Yesterday was the defense's fault mainly, not denying that. But Dak again played the way he normally plays when a good defense is on the other side of the ball.
10 years and counting....................

Its all linked.

Pay a poor QB the highest salary in history. Use most of your premium draft picks on an O-line to give him the extra time he needs to function, spend a load of money on receivers to make him look passable.

Because of the above you dont have the money to resign defensive players or improve the D with signings or premium draft picks.

so the guy who has the highest percentage in little to no pressure can't win. Oh no....why do other teams have to pressure dak. *wipes tears from face* Can somebody start a dak is the best qb ever thread to pep us up, guys/gals.

We are neck and neck with the Bengals for worst defense in the NFL. Joe Flacco , like Dak, is playing great football but it just doesn't matter bc the defense is just off the charts bad. Dallas might be sporting its worst defense since the 1960 inaugural franchise year.

Thats true but 60 million should give you more than 1 TD in the entire 2nd half of the Panthers game and just 1 TD in the first half of the Broncos game.

Hes been playing great but consistency against better defenses remains an issue

Our defense needs anywhere from 8-11 new players. This has become woefully obvious

After watching the all22 of the Denver game I would say it is not just the defense. They have some problems on offense too. Take Terence Steele for example. Multiple times he just whiffed on blocks putting Dak under immediate pressure including the second interception. Dak threw the ball early thinking CeeDee would stop his route, but also because he had the DE a step away from obliterating him, compliments of another Steele whiff. Steele was simply beat right from the start with a quick outside move by the Edge rusher. His pass protection is really garbage at times.

At the same time, CeeDee running across the field ran behind the defender. He has to cut in front to make sure that ball cannot be intercepted. It's a mistake by CeeDee but those mistakes are why they lose games.

Where was our "record setting" TE? As I said before the game the Giants have a lot of success using TEs in the passing game. The caught most of Darts targets. Fergusons had 0 catches on 1 target, which was an interception. I don't know if the Cowboys watched the Giants game or not but it looked to me like they didn't. The Cowboys game plan was horrible for Denver. Knowing Denver already has more than 3 times as many sacks as the Cowboys defense, they should have had a similar game plan that they used against GB, with Dak getting rid of the ball quickly to avoid the rush. Instead Dak was holding the ball too long and making late throws.

But getting to the defense, you cannot imagine how bad they look when you watch the all-22. It is embarrassing to watch. The DL is just awful to a man, that includes Clark and Osa. The DEs getting blocked by WRs and TEs is almost comical. The LBs can't shed blocks. The DBs take poor angles or make business decisions and no one seems to know how to tackle.

In his defense, which I rarely do, they lead the league in sacks. Why were we dropping back and waiting for things to open up down the field?
In my opinion, Dak was horrible on Sunday. However, the playcalling was equally horrible to your point. The problem is they know they have to cover for the defense and start pressing. It's maddening. But I guess my point is I still personally blame Jerry for all of this. He is the GM that assembled this team and won't allow his head coach to make decisions about his defensive coordinator. It's hard to hold anyone accountable when the GM hasn't been for 30 plus years. Just my opinion.

That's kinda the expectation when you pay your QB $60mm/year and eat up 25% of the cap space.
Around here the fashionable thing to do is to blame the defense whenever the offense has a not-so-good day. Damn that defense for not being able to toss 17 straight shutouts. How the hell is #4 supposed to succeed otherwise?

I can't imagine Dak is liking this plan, but when he's making a yearly salary of what Aikman made in his entire career, what did he expect?
Jerry has never paid any attention to the defense.

This dog walked nonsense is getting as annoying as "Common sense blah blah blah"

What is Dak’s record against playoff defenses? If I’m the other team I’m bringing pressure all game. He doesn’t handle pressure well. Dude is a choke artist. Williams and Pickens have made him look good this year but he’s still the Deer in the headlights guy.

Jerry's the only one who thinks he can.
But the thing is he's tried he just can't do it week in and week out he scored 40 against Green Bay with no help from the defense there was no defensive scorers there was no big run backs for scores this was all offense they did it in the Giants game 37 points so yeah Prescott's been putting up enough points that they should be able to win outside of the Bears game which by the way kind of hard to complain when you're having people drop passes and fumble Create turnovers by having interceptions bounce off someone's hands all those drops in the Philadelphia game I mean Prescott's doing his best and yet they're still gonna actually have haters come on here and say that he caved under pressure Sunday against Denver and calling out Prescott really 'cause what I saw is a terrible offensive line a terrible defense the play calling was suspect they couldn't really run the football effectively Hell our tight end didn't even have one catch our starting tight end they had to have six attempts at the goal line to score 1 yard to get in by the help of a penalty all the penalties on the offensive line Seriously I think that's the point of this it doesn't matter the pressure on the quarterback just have to score 30 to 40 points a game will make it tough to play well every game when the game's starting to go sideways you're gonna start to force the ball..

So yeah there's nothing wrong with Jerry thinking he can't because he's already has but you just can't do it for 17 weeks jerrys not playing defense matt defenses are terrible and they need to be fixed how it gets fixed i'm tired of reading about it and talking about it we all know where the problems are I don't know if firing him is going to work or not I don't know adding some players that are on the free agent market and getting some of ours back will help I don't know But Prescott has had a great season and he doesn't deserve any of the nonsense that he's getting from the Denver game with how bad the opposite line in the run game were it just wasn't the Cowboys day was a team effort in losing pointing out the quarterback is stupid..

If you read this far let me give you a tidbit from yesterday Monday Night Football Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes two interceptions Two other players fumble they had four turnovers on offense and they only gave up seven points the Kansas City Chiefs won like 28 to seven isn't that something when your offense isn't perfect and yet they still win it's still basically a blowout that the defense held on all those turnovers I believe except for one...

that's what a real team looks like they don't expect the offense to be perfect.. I like to point these things out because people forget Matthew Stafford led the league in interceptions and threw two interceptions to the Super Bowl and they still won the Super Bowl but people want to point out our quarterback needs to play perfect and he will be the reason we lost if he throws a couple of picks which won by the way CD lamb or somebody broke the route off and went off script because he didn't throw the ball to air there was nobody in sight somebody was supposed to be there...

rant over!!.

Here's a good lesson how about last night's game kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes had two interceptions also two fumbles from two other players on offense they had four offensive turnovers only gave up seven points won that game going away and that's something when your offense doesn't have to be perfect and you can still win a game.... Could have won that game with 10 points because their defense only gave up seven points even with all the turnovers I didn't hear the excuses on how the defense was tired and the short fields and blah blah blah...
