Some of you don't understand why adding Pickens, whom we've already added, makes sense. I used to not understand how the cap worked either. But then, I just didn't comment on it because I didn't know.
Now that I understand more, I cringe watching people who don't know comment on the issue. It's kinda funny, in a pathetic way.
We can keep Pickens and still fix the defense. You have to start with firing the dumb ace DC.
This is true,
but let me explain to you what overpayment means, what Parsons did, not just the antics, not the nonsense, and the extracurriculars, that's what pushed Jerry over the top, but the money they went from being in the 40 range to 47 range,
he priced himself off the team...
Now here we are at Pickens,
I get tired of hearing, just pay the man anything ,he wants like a blank check, every time I hear that, I cringe,
I don't think you guys understand the cap either...
I don't want to bring up the pie ,because you don't like it when Steven Jones mentions the pie, well let me explain something to you,
we need so many more defensive players and free agency, undrafted free agents, unsigned free agents, and draft picks, that we need much more money, now to go to that side of the ball, way more than your brain is like focused on, they need to cycle off so many of these players and I don't even care if they're a bunch of players like Murray or Sanborn but you get rid of them and you start over, with some similar ones, but we need about 10 or 11 new players on defense, just minimum..
So Pickens wants to take T Higgins money something around 29 million maybe cap it at 30, I think Jerry should think about it, he wants more than that, you franchise tag him with a first round tender or a 2nd round tender, however that works, however you think he can still get his way by leaving but you can get maximum draft picks,
you go get that receiver in the draft...
A DEEP WR DRAFT...
And we use the draft pick that you get from Pickens to get say a new receiver in the top three rounds..
It's a deep wide receiver group the last two years the Cowboys should go after 1 this year, That is the alternate opinion, nobody's saying to not do George Pickens, but it is an embarrassment of riches to try to do what Cincinnati has done, and then ignore the defense pretty much..
Adding a player here or there on your defense isn't getting it done,
I don't care that they have Hendrickson, it's not helping TJ Watt and Miles Garett not helping, because there's not enough players on those teams, I mean the Browns are the opposite they got nobody on offense Maybe Judkins...
So you have to spend wisely,
you just can't really nearly go and we really want to have a dynamic duo at wide receiver at the expense and yes it is at the expense if you go out and get a free agent with that same money well then the defense should get that part of the pie if you're getting a dynamic player for thirty million versus a receiver for thirty million that you technically don't need.
Think about this before George was here, 2023 CD Lamb and Prescott had an MVP like seasons together with no real threats anywhere else on the team. 12-5 into the payoffs with #1 seed..
I realize it's nice to have a guy that allegedly takes some of the pressure off CD/DAK, however even last year he was injured he didn't play the whole season he still had 1300 yards, he was still a threat, if Prescott would have stayed healthy and there been a better team assembled.
What's go to this year when Lamb was out what were they saying about our offense with George Pickens just him even Turpin was gone and he was carrying the offense we had one receiver carrying the offense ,and we were still putting up a lot of points, we were still in every game except for the Bears game, when we had one receiver, it didn't look much different than having two or 3....
Realistically this offense I'd rather keep Williams, he's a less expensive option, you can draft a receiver and a running back or maybe Mafah still does something before the end of the year, him in blue maybe you don't need to draft another, but maybe you get another one in the 4th round ,and then you spend all the extra money and the higher draft picks on defense.
Our offense is pretty young and most of them are all signed already they can easily move the ball and score enough points to win most games if they had a better defense..
this is why we're talking about using resources more on the defense than worrying about a dynamic highly paid WR2 when you can get A WR 2 in the draft or you might even be on this team what if Flournoy ready to make that step?. I mean we haven't seen him as the absolute WR 2 Where he gets those reps and see what he does I mean then you still have Turpin...
I mean you still can develop like holding I mean you guys are just overly focused on George Pickens but realize how he and Lamb were just in the worst game we had all year They get neutralized by better defenses because our offense don't have time to throw the ball and there's no run game and we're one dimensional and it's much tougher to score points even with two dynamic receivers..
Denver games offense was pretty healthy and they constantly were playing behind the chains and couldn't score enough points it didn't matter that we had two dynamic receivers, literally look at Cincinnati they are the AFC version of us ,when their offensive line isn't running well and they can't get a run game going everything is on Joe Burrows, T Higgins ,and Jamar Chase, and they don't get it done enough..
