Have you seen anything about Marion that has impressed u yet? Im not going to knock him before I see him in a REAL football game, but based off preseason(which isnt much to go by) he seemed slow. he hit the wholes slow, he made moves slow. He just didnt seem ready for the nfl speed. Plus he had that one game where he fumbled twice. Im hoping he plays up to wat we hoped for him. but it would seem he is definately the 4th runningback on our roster at this point.

Opinions and thoughts appreciated

I think the kid just needs some experience. He will get it all under control, or at least I hope so. I figure that if we can keep him and market his talents well we could easily get a good trade for him in the future. THat of course is IF TT keeps going the way he is. If he doesn't then obviously we can do something else but for now I am still sold on 4 Running backs.

I think Barber is a stud. I dont know about his foot infection tho. Bill seemed to think it was taking to much time to heal and he wasnt playing when he should have been. He kind of called him out I felt in one of his PC this week. He didnt play tonight tho. That was Bills call. I still think he makes the team. He wont make it through waivers to the PS.

When he played he seemed to hit what holes were there w/ good pop and he blocked well and seemed to pickup blitzes ok. Who knows tho. He could be a name called to get us trimmed up. Im hoping not. Someone said he just needs experience. I tend to agree w/ that observation.

He was a talented college back... showed skills that could translate to the pros... he's unselfish and a real team player.

He hasn't shown much this preseason, but if we can find a place for him, we should really try. I'm sure Bill would be sick to cut him but it will probably come down to a numbers game.

He's certainly on the bubble.

Hasn't BP said MBIII was not in the rotation and needed to work himself back in?

Doesn't sound like someone who will be cut.

Sounds bubbleicious to me.

Barber hasn't shown much in the preseason cause he's had terrible blocking. Especially in the Arizona game.

He runs hard and fast, and knows where the holes are.

He's a stud. Just off to a slow start is all.

I share this opinion. He looked pretty good against seattle with no blocking (aside from the fumbles).

fumbles with me are relative. If your carrying someone on ur back, fighting for extra yards and it pops out then yea i can live with that, But his fumbles.... made me mad to say the least.

Im hopin things work out, just wanted some opinions

I thought he looked good running. The only negatives I heard/saw were the fumbles. I agree with you on those.

I agree with that, he has been average so far, but Ive seen he has the ability to break tackles and lower his shoulder and get positive yards, and seems to have good hands, and is a good blocker.

And maybe he can be a returner in the future.

I'm not sure where his future role will be on this team. If Parcells really likes Thompson that much and he's just as young, he could be the future backup. Between the two, one should pan out.

I liked the pick of Barber based on his college work, but I'm skeptical so far in his short NFL career.

MB3 is "slow" in terms of his run style in relation to RBs in the NFL.
After the draft, everyone was saying that he was a carbon copy of JJ. I wholly disagreed then and still do. Ryan Moats was a carbon copy of JJ. Small, quick, and shifty.

MB3 is more like a Priest Holmes or Marshall Faulk in his run style. He is a finesse runner. He runs patiently behind his blocks and lets things develop in front of him.

JJ finds a hole quickly and hits it, then jukes a few times on his way downfiled. MB3 prances around behind his blocks and follows the lead of his frontmen and tails them smoothly.

Neither way is better than the other except I wouldn't expect to see MB3 create too many things that lead him to carry the ball for TD from a long distance. But his goalline running would probably be excellent.

I can agree with that. Which is why he has a so-so pre-season. The second line was not really gettign it done. But I think with a Floz,LA,AJ,Rivera, Petitti line he can be effective in a goal line short yard role....probably no draw plays though

I believe it was an article over at DC.com that said Parcells already said we are keeping 4 RB's, so I would think he is a lock at this point.
