Believe what you want. I'm grounded in the real world. If we had to play a game today with the defense we had now how do you think we would do?

The season starts today? Wow, I thought we still had 4 more months of offseason, man the season starts earlier and earlier every year. Though as for how I think we would do, probably much the same as last year.

This is what you said:

"I am not saying we have lost no one, I am saying we have lost no one who isn't replaceable, often from guys already on this team."

Your the one that stated were already good on defense. Not me. Thus your saying one thing and now your saying another - like we already have talent to replace everyone. You need to wake up from your dream.

Forget this, it's not worth the effort, you make up whatever reality that helps you sleep at night, thinking it will be all right for your favorite team. Bring up whatever retired players you think might come back, and downplay all the player losses you want. Ignore facts, information and the rest of reality if that's what you need to do. Just don't force anyone else to read the nonsense.

Ward- don't you think you're being a bit rough on the Beaver?

So we lost a 3rd string DT (both Hayden and McClain were playing more than Melton by the end of the season), a second string DE (Mincey played more than Spencer last season) who had 0 sacks last season, a guy who was not on our team 2/3 of last season (and was replaced quite well by Hitchens), a NB who is the definition of JAG and is still available in free agency, and a good LB (who will be replaced nicely by Lee). What part of that screams irreplaceable? You could argue that Murray is irreplaceable, and by 1 guy I might agree but the guys that we have as a group should do nicely, as should our line having another year of experience and stability. THERE IS NO NEED FOR DOOM AND GLOOM RIGHT NOW, GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL.

Brother- you are fighting the good fight and you make some solid points, but you aren't going to sway any minds.
Not here. I only say this so you can sit back and relax.
You deserve it.

Agreed. I'd almost prefer to sign Spencer the the John Abrahams of the world.

I say sign all of them (Spencer, Abraham, Freeney) if we can get them cheaply enough and let camp sort out who we keep.

Like I said I'm being realistic. We needed help on defense this off season. The Cowboys don't see it that way. Be prepared to see a more decimated defense than last year. But you can go think what you want and believe were good. Not me.

12-4 and a bad call away from the championship game is good in my eyes, and we haven't lost anything from that team other than some backups and IR vets.

We gave away our best player from the 2014 Defense....

...Demarco Murray

This is an optimistic take. I admire your positivity.

I don't call the NFL Offensive Player of the year (Murray) and the Linebacker with the most interceptions in the NFL (Carter) as well as the Cowboy's leading interceptor overall as "backups and IR vets".

Lee replaces Carter (there have been times pretty late in seasons where Lee has lead the whole league in takeaways) and I don't think Murray is irreplaceable because so much of his success was contingent on this line.

I don't disagree with either of those point.

I love how people think the NFL Offensive Player of the Year can just walk out the door and they don't even mention it as a loss at all.

Oh that's right, it was all the line so it doenst matter who the RB is...........McFadden or a rookie to be named later can put up 1800 yards just as easy.

I stand corrected.
