The best thing about being a Cowboy fan to me is the glorious past success and the players, coaches and management that helped lay the foundation of the greatest franchise in the world regardless of any sport.
And another great thing is the eternal optimism I have every year knowing that this could be our year if the cards fall just right. Right now every team in the league has a record of 0-0 same as us.

I love this team regardless of the current position it finds itself in now.

The 2013 season is nigh upon us fellas. I am EXCITED

The Cowboys have one of the largest fanbases in the entire NFL. You can find Cowboys fans in probably almost every major city of the US. Many other fans, such as Jaguars and Lions fans, have to deal not only with a losing/mediocre team but also with being in the statistically tiny minority.

Probably no you can. And on top of the U.S. When I first came to Texas Stadium I meet a Cowboys fan from CANADA that came from CANADA just to see us play. That blew my mind.

Then when I started my blog I meet fans from Egypt, Russia and India. When I meet a fan from Australia I'll think I'll have meet fans from ever Continent. That seriously saying something! America is truly not big enough for the Cowboy anymore haha

The Cowboys get a significant number of nationally televised games.

And on top of that as much as Pittsburgh, Green Bay and Pats fans can say "were not America's Team anyone" the NUMBERS don't lie, guess what team played in the most watched GAMES not game but games on EVERY NFL broadcasting channel on TV in 2013???...

ESPN Bears vs. Cowboys Oct. 1 16.6 million
FOX Commanders vs. Cowboys Nov. 22 28.7 million
CBS Steelers vs. Cowboys Dec. 16 26.9 million
NBC Cowboys vs.Commanders Dec. 30 30.3 million

Those are some good numbers. It is amazing how many non Cowboy fans would rather watch the Cowboys lose then having their team win. Especially Commander fans.

Judging by a lot of these posts a lot of you became fans because the Cowboys were a championship type team.

Since you had no problem jumping on the Cowboy band wagon way back when what's stopping you from jumping aboard elsewhere?

Some of the stuff you all post is absurd.

You know who you are and Ive got to think that maybe life has to be re evaluated a bit if this is the way you're gonna act towards something you supposedly enjoy.

And if you're just trolling.

Don't you have a life to attend to?

I'm sure the weathers nice where you live right now.

As for My favorite part of being a Cowboy fan is what the star brings out of people.

And no matter how long ago the Cowboys have been to the divisional round they all know how many Super Bowl championships the team owns.

Sum of this thread.... We can talk about how we were good nearly 20 years ago and we have a lot of bandwagon fans from that time period. Good to know lol

I've learned from this thread that there is apparently no good thing about being a Cowboys fan. Who knew?

Thanks, everybody.

The best thing about being a Cowboys fan is that the team has a great history to look back on and we can live in the past until the current team improves.

Your history isn't taken away from you just because it's in the past. It becomes tradition, and there's nothing wrong with enjoying the team's tradition.

The Cowboys have a great history we've spent a lot of time on this board reliving the past with discussions and video's. It keeps us going through these lean years. Not many teams have a history as rich as the Cowboys and not all fans care to relive their teams history.

Regardless, whether they care to relive it, or not, it's undeniably one of the best things about being a Cowboys fan. Which is what the thread's about.

It is indeed a sad, sad day when the VERY BEST THING about being a Fan is reduced to reliving the past.

That is true. The past is all we have.

The Cowboys history will always be one of the best things about being a Cowboys fan. The fans who hate hearing about their history the most are the Philly fans whose history consists of a bounty bowl, throwing snowballs at Santa, cheering Michael Irvin as he lay injured at the old Vet and 2 SB losses one of which is best remembered for Donavan McNabb throwing up.

It depends on the team's past. In the case of Cowboys fans, it's not sad, at all.

There are some of us who aren't upset with the team's present, too, fwiw. It's just that we're realistic enough to keep the present in perspective.
