If the Cowboys release DLAW for cap purposes, he will have a choice of any team in the league. We will be the real losers, as we do not have anyone to replace him. Dorrance Armstrong may also bolt and we will be left with some mediocre free agent or worse, a green rookie.

Retaining Armstrong is important if DLAW will be released, as he finally showed the talent and performance this year that made him initially a wise draft choice. He probably will be a better LDE replacement than anyone we draft or sign as a free agent.

Gregory will also have to be resigned, but a team with lots of cap room can just overpay him and he will also bolt. Do we then have for DE only Chauncey Golston and the small sized Bardley Anae?

If we lose two DE's to free agencies or a combo of a DLAW release and 1-2 free agent DE's leaving, we will be stripped bare to the bone, as bad as we were going into the 2005 draft, when Parcels drafted DWARE, Marcus Spears, Chris Canty, Jay Ratliff and 3nd round LB K Burnett, Marion Barber.

Stripped so bare, we will not be able to target positions of need in the draft, a center and a guard/tackle for the OL, a LB, a TE if Schultz leaves, another WR if Wilson or Malik Turner leave, or if Coop is cut to find salary cap money.

Once again the National Communist League with the free agent rules will destroy my favorite team. The Jones have an inability to manage the cap, as they overpay too many people.

The Jones crew better be very aggressive in retaining our own free agents early on during the free agency period, or we will be completely taken to the cleaners, wiped out, especially on defense. Promise them some off-the table business opportunities. Get them multi-million endordement deals they do not have now. Hook up the free agents with some big corporations whose exectives' egos would love to have a Cowboy on its board.

Now is the time to move hard and swiftly.

Who replaced him when he missed 10 games w/a broken bone in his foot last season? Didn't you watch those games? Hot Boyz salary cap hit this year is at a whopping $27 million.

Jerry's hoping for a hometown discount from Gregory. Don't let the door hit ya where the sun don't shine Tank. Touche'

You'll need to get ready for some disappointment, reports are that Stephen's already stated that some players won't be back.....you yourself admit the Jones' have "an inability to manage the CAP", well the only way to correct that is to stop this endlessly restructuring bad contracts, take the hit and get rid of none productive 'elite' contracts to players that may be good, but are no way playing at a level close to the value they're being paid.....that starts with DLaw and potentially Coop (though both, especially Coop who's not got so much guaranteed money, could take a pay cut).

This is a strategy (with cutting Zeke in 2023) to correct the CAP once and for all, it will reset not just for 2022 but will also alleviate the 2023 issue (we're already overspent) - already over the CAP).

Every team in the league is bound by the same FA rules. The Cowboys just suck at it.

Production don’t match the pay

The problem is that the pay is effectively 8m and the production more than matches 8m. JUST for stopping the run that well you pay between 12-13m (based on league contracts) and then he is a better pass rusher than the exclusive run stuffers as well so you get up to around 15-16m to get a DLaw which shows that the contract was terrible but for this year the savings are not worth what you are losing.

Parsons is a better edge rusher, and we have him on his rookie contract. Parsons + warm body is a better edge rush than a lot of years around here. I'll take it.

This is the perennial argument. Many want to desperately hold on to bad value players because we're losing talent if we cut them. Yeah, that's true, but we're gaining cap room that can be used to get/keep other players that bring more per dollar. In a capped league, it's a competition for getting value per dollar.

Scared? It is a football team run by a delusional owner and his family. There's no reason to expect anything, or be scared.

Most of us are just along for the ride because we remember what this franchise was before it became all about the owner.

You have to understand how delusional this fan base is with our defensive linemen.

They're about to battle panic attacks when 16.5 sacks and 19 TFLs in 7 years becomes free to sign with any team.

I think the concern is more about replacing him since we know the Joneses don't spend big on outside FAs. When Lawrence came back this year, the defense took a step forward. I don't see anyone else on this team currently at end able to keep the defense playing at the same level except Parsons, and it would be tough for him to play full time at left end. Then, if we let Gregory walk, we need Parsons at right end. Either way, we'd have to draft a linebacker to replace Parsons. So we're wedging ourselves into needing defensive replacements knowing that the Joneses will only replace them with cheap FAs or draft picks. Would rather see us not create new holes ... unless you like the idea of Basham or Golston starting at left end.

I use to hate FA and thinking about our cap casualties. But after the past 27 years l've come to the conclusion that we can loose in the 1st round with new players too. We've had some very good rosters during that time. I'd just as soon bring in new blood anyway. How much worse could it be?
