Kasey Redfern, signed a while ago as a P, but can also kick FG's, so are giving him some kicks to see how he does.

Off topic, but this reminded me that Danny White was a really good punter as well as a good QB.

They must think that Mahrer can develop his consistency, but he has to know he is on a short leash.

After all, we do have Heath.

Ignoring the need to upgrade the kicker spot is one of the biggest oversights by this team going into this season. We were 24th last year in FG percentage at 80.6. That's pretty pitiful and could hurt us in close games that we either need to make the playoffs or to win a playoff game.

This is an area where we should have at least gone after UDFA competition for Maher and not just bring in a camp-leg punter who has bounced around the league without making a dent.

I guess the good news is that there probably will be a move we can make during camp or after camp if needed at the position.

They probably want to see all the players through mini camp, then make adjustments right before TC. And bring in another K at that time once they churn the roster.

So, help me understand.

We added "competition" in the form of a camp leg punter who doubled as a kicker at Wofford College and has not kicked in game situations since 2012-2013 seasons in which he was 5 of 9 and 6 of 10 on FGs over two campaigns.

Wow. We are really challenging Maher with a real crack challenger for his job. This looks like a real "battle".
