The built in excuse

So remind the class how Dez Bryant scored his first TD?

Or how Beasley and Harris picked up yardage?

Catch and runs maybe?

More misinformation being spread around, some of you are worse than Jerry.

I don't remember all the details of Harris's big play but the Dez play was 100% improvised.

There is no doubt that Garrett had a hand in this mess. Him and Jerry should share the blame and add Callahan to the mix as well. I think this is a group effort. The three of them actually thought this mess would work. That gamble ruined the season.

I don't doubt that Garrett/Callahan/Ryan all had some input in setting the team's offseason priorities, but come on...

This team isn't run as a triumvirate of equals. At the end of the day Jerry is going to do what Jerry wants to do, the advice or opinions of others be damned. It's been that way for 16 years now; to pretend otherwise is naive at best.

If we had a coach that adjusted to his talent and not make players just adjust to his system than I'd be fine with keeping him another year.

I just can't stand watching, for example, catch and run receivers being forced to play like Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt.

I can't stand watching finesse linemen and 1 cut backs being used like they are the 90s Cowboys Oline and backs.

I hate how we always run out of heavy set formations from everywhere on the field.

I'm just not a fan of his philosophies.

I hear you.

My problem is: When is Jerry going to allow his coach to build his team and run his system which may actually work? This team was a mess when JG took over and most expected things to get worse before they got better.

Yes, marquis players like Witten and Ware maybe have to be sacrificed but isn't that the price of progress? JG has kept this team competitive and talent does appear to be building. If Jerry pulls the rug out from under him now then it will another two years wasted for nothing.

I want to see what JG can do with his guys and his system before I give up on him as a coach. As much as I agree with you concerning his philosophies, I am willing to wait and see if he can deliver long term.

He took over a team that won its first playoff game in 15 years about 6 months earlier. Some mess. :laugh2:

Just curious, what was the record of this "playoff team" when he took over?

Anyone else scared that Jason may get his job saved because of all the injuries we have recently have?

Last year it was the no offseason excuse and now I think this year he'll get the injuries excuse.

I really hope Jerry isn't sitting back and just waiting to drop this excuse on our fan base.

Absolutely not. Miss the playoffs and he's gone. A season ending meltdown at RFK will seal the deal. We won't get Payton but there are other options.

I'm sorry but I want a new regime. I did at one point wanted a new OC to call plays with JG still HC, but now that has changed.

It's not only the offense that is a mess, it's the team. 3 times this year we've ran out only 10 on ST's, same can be said for the Defense. This is a poorly coached football team and the HC's responsibility for all of it.

It's not just the offense that has screwed up on his watch, quit letting him off the hook!

We should be able to get talent with or without Jason Garrett.

Give me a coach that will call & design plays that are based on our players strengths.

The year we lost to the Vikings we looked like an absolute juggernaut at the end of the season.

Even though we saw the end result of the Wade Phillips era I think the Cowboys have looked better under him than at any point with Jason Garrett.

No offense, but where is this 'progress' you speak of?

I have seen Witten, Romo, and Ware be great.

I have never seen the same from Jason Garrett other than behind a podium.

I think it's much easier to find a better coach than to hope that you can replace possibly three potential hall-of-fame players at marquee positions.

I'm more concerned with the injuries being an excuse for less player turnover in the offseason than I am keeping Jason Garrett.

That's usually what we do. Talk change in the beginning of January after another disappointing season, then talk ourselves into why continuity is the way to go for a successful season the next year.

They need to blow up this offensive line and start over. Not blame injuries to bad players as the reason why things fell apart.

This offseason has to be about fixing this at all costs. Like last offseason should have been. And if they don't, I won't spin away talking nonsense about being excited about a new paint job on this dump and how young players can improve over time. Give me a major overhaul of the OL this winter and I'll have hope for next year. Don't, and I won't. I'll consider our 2013 season to be finished before it even started. It's as simple as that.

Its not just this year, its the pattern in Dallas. Before the OL, it was thinking Alan Ball could be a starting NFL FS along with Street FA Frank Walker as your CB depth. But the team had three kickers and a "weapon" on ST's that year from the 2009 ST draft!

Apparantly, there are absolutely no reasons that anything ever happens, only excuses....

Yes, very afraid of that. Mosley said this morning he was starting to get that feeling, which is scary.

I believe he has already said, this week, injuries are not an excuse.

Silly me, I thought it was going to be "I really hope I'm wrong."
