On the Herd the head Cow seems to think that since Cowher is like about 14th in the NFL as regards HC salary he is maneuvering to RETIRE for a year or so then coach the Boys. I guess it is a possibility.

He would keep the 3-4. Interesting thought.

The Chin in Dallas?

We never thought the Tuna would be here.

I guess anything is a possibility...

I find it a bit implausible as Pittsburgh is his dream job and that he is a very devoted family man and his family is moving to North Carolina...

Time will tell I guess...

At first glance, blech.

But I'm sure I could come around on it. ;)

Maybe down the road, but I think Cowher is going to take a 1-2 year sabbatical from the game after this year. But I'm not as sure that Parcells is going to retire after this year as many people are. He doesn't seem nearly as stressed this year as he has in past years. Very few comments about "alligators" this training camp. Its never going to be 100% perfect, but I think by and large he finally has his team in place.

Fine. Let the Panthers fire John Fox and hire Cowher. I'd take Fox as Coach Parcells' successor.

That would be consistent with Jerry's M.O. When Bill leaves it will have to be a high profile guy. Also it would likely have to be someone who either had experience in the 3-4 or a purely offensive coach who wouldn't care what D we were running.

Of course, if we are successful over the next year or two, there are going to be some assistants on this staff who are going to be viewed as very hot coaching prospects -- if things work out with TO and we get deep in the playoffs, Haley is going to have a number of HC interviews.

PFT keeps pimping Danny Boy. He claims Cowher will retire, take a couple of years off, then Snyder will offer him big $$$ to come in.

Well, with their assistants, I'd have to say that's the stupidest thing Florio has ever come up with.

I'm sure Gregg Williams would not be too happy with that...

I bet that makes both Gregg Williams and Al Saunders pleased.

I would assume he is referring to Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio...

Well, they can be temporarily happy since PFT is now in an orgy of TO-Parcells stories. Today it's "Parcells is losing respect around the league" because of the way he's treating TO.

:laugh2:

The old "grizzled veteran coach gelded by football diva" story.

I like it.

Were it a possability.......

I personally believe that Fox is one of the top 5 coaches in the NFL right now. I really like him. I can only hope Carolina might be stupid enough to allow him to leave.

Yep...

Plus, as Brad Sham pointed out last week, remember Parcells' comments about how he admired his friend Mike Wallace for saying he "hoped he'd die at his typewriter"?

I think that as long as his health is good and he has energy, he'll be here.

I know, but since we were playing fantasy games, it seemed to fit.

But suppose the next two years come and go and Fox hasn't got Carolina back to the Super Bowl and Cowher is available? Stranger things have happened. The expectations for Carolina have really risen and they do expect to contend each year and their free agent spending proves it.

Anything can happen in the NFL. I can only hope beyond hope that Carolina would be stupid enough to do this and we would be smart enough to recognize a golden opportunity.

I think it's only fair to disclose the fact that I also by Lotto tickets..............
