And two are available right now. Clowney and Jamal Adams would really raise the talent on defense. Clowney , Aldon Smith, and Gregory would be a great rotation at RDE and Lawrence, Crawford, and Armstrong would be solid at LDE. I’ve felt that the back end of our defense has missed an alpha for the last couple seasons. And getting Jamal Adams would be that missing guy. He’s an excellent leader on the field , and raises the play of other around him. He’s excellent In Run support.

The only question I’d have is TE. Yes jarwin has some good potential but he’s a questionable blocker at best. If you look at the top 3 teams in the league last season they had the best TE play. KC, SF, and Baltimore were stacked and talented at TE. Their TE’s are also excellent blockers. When I studied their run game, I noticed that their TE’s were so good they were able to take on DE’s leaving extra OL to get to the 2nd level. This has been a big problem for Dallas since letting Swaim go and Hannah retiring. They were excellent 2nd level blockers! Maybe Blake Bell helps in that area ?!

if they got Clowney , Adams, and Bell/jarwin step it up, there’s no question in my mind the Cowboys would go to the Super Bowl this season.
The problem with this logic is that it also means we are 1 injury away from not having a super bowl capable team. Perhaps no team has been worse in adjusting its mindset on how to build a team in the salary cap era than the Cowboys.

We continue to try to build the most talented roster rather than the deepest. It’s why our schemes have been horrible for decades, because you don’t need great schemes if your talent is simply superior. Schemes only really matter when talent is roughly equal. And it’s why we have bet on so many high risk reward players, on defense especially, because it’s impossible to build the most talented roster otherwise.

The problem of course is that injuries happen every year, and we have a player or three suspended every year, and we don’t invest in depth of roster, so we end up with significant holes on the offense (e.g. Chaz Green) and/or defense. This combined with the absence of any meaningful scheme to create advantages means we haven’t seen an NFL championship game since 95.

One of the best and insightful, macro level explanatlons for the lack of success of the Dallas Cowboys.
Hall of Fame worthy.
Hats off to ya bro.Truly a nice read in which I agree with.

I’m against any more high level players additions this year

Let this year play out with what we have and then reevaluate

It’s not players, it was coaching all along...
BP took a Troy Hambrick and Quincy Carter team to the playoffs....
JG could barely make the playoffs with 10+ probowlers

agree.

we have talent. Especially the offense.

No team is a player or two or three away lol. Chiefs were a heavily flawed team. Most teams are. Cowboys need to sit tight and continue to build their team the right way.

Agree.

Though our window is closing. Our offensive stars have 2-4 high level seasons left.

An All Pro at every position makes the Garrett philosophy work.

He doesnt coach here any longer.

Does that mean we are out of the woods? Not even close.

The guy who hired Garrett is still here, and refuses to accept anything less than dying as being regarded as a "football guy."

I've got news for the billionaire.

Not matter what this team does for the rest of your life it WONT be attributed to you.

That's clear.

we have MM.

KMoore still running the offense.

we lost Marinelli but gained Nolan. Both BBDB coaches.

Seems like our Cowboys are about "3 guys away" every year! Will 2020 be the exception? Good question . . .
Yeah, we could acquire 3 more guys like Adams, Clowney and even Griffith? No more boat for Jerry, though?! :omg:

25 years without even a Conference Championship Game.

This needs repeating when fans say "COWBOYS NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAP" or "WE'LL FIND THE MONEY".

We find the money to fill the Roster with Dumpster Trash.

The position is exacerbated as we are left with restructuring bad contracts into terrible contracts.

2021 and 2022 CAP Space is worrying - LBer, Edge's and Safeties needed......but the whole attention is on PAY DAK THE MONEY.
